This illustrates the problem with outrage culture. Mix that with optics culture, this is what we get. People look at the disturbing images, get irate, and jump to hasty conclusions. Or to use a hackneyed phrase, there is "a rush to judgment". Let's face it, even construed correctly, white men on horseback, with long whip like reins, herding Black men like cattle, is 'not a good look'. It's at least 'concerning'.
There is another 'concerning' aspect to all this that is not getting media attention. Immigrants who might qualify for asylum are apparently being given notices to report and released. I can sort of understand that. However, for some bizarre reason they are not being tested or vaccinated for covid 19. I have heard those with symptoms are possibly being held in custody and quarantined?
If covid vaccination and / or testing can be required for employment, restaurant entry, etc,; then there is no reason I can see why it can't be made a condition for immigration and asylum. Dems want to pass their infrastructure bill, add this as a rider. Then they could say the Republicans voted against covid testing for illegal immigrants.
Many of the white men, with long whip-like reins, herding black people, who might qualify for asylum, may have been Hispanics preventing Haitians who had already been granted asylum in South America from entering this country illegally.
The administration does not appear to care about the Covid issue at the border.
Some may be of the opinion that POTUS saying the border agents will be held accountable doesn't sit well when there has been zero accountability for 13 service members killed in Kabul, or 10 people, including 7 kids, droned.
The border agent issue is a manufactured issue. Kabul is not.
