Well, who knows what Pritzker is about to giveaway, to the Bear and Chicago, to get Arlington Heights a stadium. This is going to be ugly for taxpayers. PACO!

The framework of the Senate’s bill would allow a municipality to set up a stadium authority that would own the stadium but would allow the Bears to not pay property taxes after they built the stadium. The authority would be eligible to collect additional sales tax revenue generated by the project, according to Crain’s reporting.

Chicago legislators don't have much leverage over Pritzker.  He'll likely keep the door open for a Chicago stadium as a face-saving gesture, but ultimately, the decision rests with the Bears.  My bet is that they'll choose Arlington Heights if a stadium deal gets worked out during the legislative veto session.

What do you mean they have no leverage? Over 25% in the House and Senate represent Chicago.They can tank the whole thing, especially with Welch's 60 Vote Rule. Again, what incentive does anyone representing Chicago have to vote for this? None. Unless there is a payoff for Chicago (assuming muni pensions -which is underfunded by about $35B, with a B, or a CTU bribe to fund schools built for 3,000 students but currently have 100).

This is going to be a financial shitshow that will tank Yanking Toilets Out Guy's presidential dreams.
