Many legal immigrants supported Trump's mass deposition plans. We see how that is working out.

I have been reading how most countries administer elections. In the advanced countries, it's less about preventing ineligible voters from voting; more about making sure everyone eligible to vote can vote.
AI

This figure aligns with broader claims that the vast majority of countries worldwide—especially in Europe (nearly all except parts of the UK), Africa (every country), South America (all 12 countries), and many others—require some form of government-issued ID, often photo ID, to cast a ballot in person.

In most countries, citizenship is verified during voter registration (often automatic or based on national ID systems that already confirm citizenship), not necessarily by presenting separate proof at the polls.

If the rest of the world can do it, we should be able to.

True but Ray had mentioned voter registration, "more about making sure everyone eligible to vote can vote."

The Republican scheme is more about making making people jump through hoops to vote..

Your post was about other countries and their efforts to make it easier to vote.
And it may very well be that the rest of the world is directing their efforts on making it easier to vote, which they apparently are doing because they've .........
already made people jump through hoops to vote..

I doubt it. They make it easier to obtain records and get an ID.

It doesn't make any difference. Those other countries get to make their own rules..

In the United States, the respective states get to decide. If Republicans want to mandate strict voter ID; the they need to amend the Constitution.

Other countries can probably "make it easier to obtain records and get an ID" because they don't have Blacks or low-income people who have to jump thru those hoops to vote.
Most countries in Africa require an ID to vote, and I'm guessing that most of the countries in Africa have Blacks and low-income people who are able to figure out a way to vote.

Has SCOTUS issued an opinion on the SAVE America act ? If so, I missed it.

Maybe those other countries have better social services to assist their "blacks and other low income people" instead of asking them to jump through hoops?

Maybe those countries in Africa try to make it easier to acquire ID and vote?

"Kansas offers a case study of how a documentary proof requirement would likely play out in practice. Before the law took effect, noncitizen registration in Kansas was exceedingly rare, accounting for about 0.002% of registered voters. After adoption, the documentary proof of citizenship requirement prevented roughly 31,000 eligible citizens, or 12% of all applicants, from registering to vote. In short, the law prevented far more citizens from registering to vote than noncitizens."

#1 is not correct.
#2 is generally expressed as 'immediate access'.
#3-5 are opinions.

The Kansas law didn't prevent 30,000+ from registering. 30,000+, for any number of reasons, weren't able to provide or didn't provide the requested citizenship documentation.

Obviously, you are okay with that, since voter suppression tends to benefit Republicans.

Oh, and it didn't prevent nonexistent voter fraud.

"In combination with the ineffectiveness of voter photo ID laws at preventing the rare instances of voter fraud, the more likely results of voter photo ID laws are voter suppression and reduced turnout among vulnerable populations."

Oh, and it didn't prevent nonexistent voter fraud.

Ths SAVE Act is partly based on the old model where the better-off, educated voters who have passports and easy access to IDs were largely Republican.

That isn't the case anymore and many Republican political operatives understand this, but they don't want to piss off Trump by going public with their concerns.
