What gets lost in there is that a huge amount of that money just circles back to them. Elon Musk gets pretty much all of his money from the feds - he get more money from the Feds than he pays to the feds. When Trump flies around in his private jet, he's landing it at airports paid for by taxes, but very few are able to use the privilege of landing their private jet at one. If they weren't paying that 40%, they wouldn't have the other 60% to begin with. That's why the real addiction up top is deficit spending - they collect 100 bucks, pay 40 bucks, keep 60 bucks. But where did that 60 bucks come from? 40 of it came from the rest of us, 20 came from the future.

The sods down at the bottom don't really get a lot in return.

I actually did fact check him. I decided not to nitpick. I will mention the time Jesus was asked about taxes and Jesus said “Do not overtax the rich, for they already bear a great burden!” I think that’s what they teach at Custard’s church anyway, I believe.
