From The Failing New York Times email this AM, it sure looks like The Dems and Kamala Harris have a "Tempo and Murph" problem: Progressives are not very popular with minorities and are voting for Trump in larger numbers.
Well, the Democrats have done a shitty job of "branding" and the GOP has done a great job of abusing that.
What the fuck even is a Progressive. As noted upthread, the Supervisorial district in SF that includes the Mission District, has elected Supervisors who scream about how they are "Progressives!", we need Progressives!
Meanwhile, the old D5 Supe who is now a State Senator, Scott Wiener, who uses the word progressive as an adjective (progressive policies) instead of as a noun ("I am a Progressive") is labeled a center right corporate Democrat by said "Progressives". This is the Gay Man who has posted photos of himself at Folsom Street Fair, and is often lambasted by various far right wackos on the "X". He wants to correct housing prices by building houses, which is apparently "A GIVEAWAY TO DEVELOPERS" and the only true progressive policy is blocking all housing development and having very strict rent control, so that current renters can stay where they are in a neighborhood preserved in amber but anyone young and moving in, or wanting to start a family and needing more space, or a couple needing a divorce/separation is fucked, because moving means giving up their rent control.
Is AOC a "Progressive"? She has a lot of good policy ideas, she's very smart - if you drill down on it she just wants everyone to have opportunity, and if you get that opportunity and you blow it, well too bad, no vacations, here's some food stamps because we don't want you to starve, and we'll make sure you get some basic health care. Companies that produce good products that people want and don't fuck over their customers or their employees should be able to make a good profit and return shareholder value. If you fuck over your customers or your employees, we're gonna come after you. That's really not that radical. There are plenty of actual radicals out there.
