What would be the per unit levy on fast food sugar water that you could impose without people noticing?
Also, do you care whether their fat asses notice? Would they all start ordering iced tea instead? Or diet drinks?
Fun anecdotes but the data shows a drop in consumption where taxes have been put in place. Economics works
I might be craving a coke on a drive, but if there's not a McDonalds at the freeway exit, I might pass, because a coke at McDonalds is a dollar, at a BK or CJ's it's over 2 bucks. That extra dollar is meaningless to my financial runway as a whole, but there is a lot of psychology to pricing (which is why McDonalds has $1 cokes to begin with)
