The people raging on the hellholes that cities are generally seem to be old married or divorced folks. The best part of large cities is being young in a melting pot of other young people. You can put up with a lot of random city messiness if the payoff is a lot of time drinking with huge numbers of attractive young people.

I mean, I still like going to concerts in SF, and even a bar to chew the fat, but it's not the same draw as it was going up to Chicago when I was in grad school and a zillion people who graduated from college in the last 5 years was out at the bars (not to mention my buddies who had jobs would take pity on the poor grad student).

I’d imagine the costs of going out are actually pretty similar. I’m so glad Chicago seems to be all the way back after the nightmare of 2020/21.

Chicago officials should have provided a reason, but it's not the first city to cancel 4th of July fireworks.  Some cities are transitioning to drone or laser light shows due to fire, air pollution and cost concerns.

A Trump presidency would be tragic for this country, but it would be interesting to watch it unfold.

Some think the damage would damage to the government, the economy, and people's lives would be irreparable. If things go as they plan; then yes on the micro level.

Don't tell me they won't get the necessary cooperation from Congress and the Courts. They have planned for that.

They  plan to take over the executive branch and eliminate some departments. That's where they might be biting off more than they can chew.

I have to think they would like need grass roots cooperation of the military and law enforcement

Their plan for Operation Wet Back part 2 is totally insane. There is a reason we have deportation hearings.

Anyone who looks remotely Latino or Middle Eastern should be very concerned, including citizens and permanent residents.

That isn't true, but it is a different subject. Trump and his MAGA allies believe his Presidency failed to achieve its goals. That is the reason for Project 2025.

They believe it failed not only because Congress and the Courts were against him, but also many of his of own advisors and most of the executive branch.

The plan is to ignore the congress and the courts, and rule as a unitary executive. That would involve a major overhaul of the executive branch to ensure internal loyalty.

The plan is hit the ground running and have things operational before anyone knows what hit them.

The left is complicit in this because they have become excessively concerned with things like identity politics and social diversity or nonsense like pronouns and speech codes. They have ethnic, social, and racial diversity, but no diversity of views.

Jackasses like Trump say things the left says you can't say and that has a sort of juvenile appeal.
