Not counting Hawkins from 3, the rest of the team was 4-18.
Not counting Shannon at the free shot line, the rest of the team was 5-18.

Those were pretty much all good looks from 3 within the offense. RJ (0- 5) had a tough night.

If we are shooting 30% from three and 50% from line after 5 games, we can start to worry. Will need to assess who is taking the threes, and are they good looks. I am sure they track contested threes, etc.

Free throws are easily correctable.

Not really a match, since they were different guys.

The missed threes were mostly one guy, RJ, missing wide open looks within the offense. 

The missed free throws were largely Rodgers going 1-6.  He  has poor form, needs work.

No excuse really for any D1 player to not shoot FTs at 70%.
It is all mechanics and shooting skills training has advanced significantly in past 15 years.

Mayer looked frustrated as hell. Throwing up arms like he got fouled on every shot. Come on man. He did have some really good takes to the rim but just left it short. It was like that for the rest of the guys really. Maybe it was first-game-that-actually-counts jitters.

It’s going to take some time for the mix of vets and frosh to gel. The talent and athleticism are most definitely there though.
