Here's my take FWIW.

To paraphrase Thomas Paine.  “To argue [create a dialogue] with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”

When a person identifies with an ideology, best of luck trying to change their minds. The MAGAs are not some dumb rubes that are being exploited. They are active participants in a anti-democracy movement that needs to be opposed.

Is Judge Judy an Irredeemable MAGA Man?

Not what we were talking about.

Discussing our racist history as a society and acknowledging it seems uncomfortable for you. Why?

I’m perfectly comfortable saying we as white people have been assholes and sometimes still are.

Not sure. Every time I think he seems reasonable he shows his Lauren Boebert side.

Let me guess. Reparations to Custard (and probably ThePAMan) is a complete non-starter.

In one brief post, Custard encapsulated the insulary and aggrieved sentiments of “comfortable” white people everywhere. Well done!

It encapsulates your constant stigmatizing of white people and the reaction that type of divisive rhetoric produces.

But, of course, you’re 110% convinced your approach is just and noble.

Not sure what kinda black people y’all hang out with, but the ones I know don’t want middle aged white dudes running around blacksplaining to other white people as some bizarre show of solidarity.

I couldn’t draw Custard up any better if I were trying to create a prototype for the indifferent white male.

I made a response for this, but I think I’ll withhold it. A definite candidate for the vast Tempo memes file.

I’ll just say that I once managed a staff of around 175 people. Probably at least 40% urban black. Maybe quite a bit higher.

I know I had their respect and appreciation. And I’m as white as any of you at the end of the day. It’s amazing what some of them did just to show up.

That is neither true nor the original conversation with Spark. The issue was the effectiveness on calling people "dumb," "stupid" and/or "bigots" in convincing them how to change their minds.

Why should Custard be paid anything as reparations?

Context is the King here, Nichi. Try to keep up.

I get that you are a taking a British black man's perspective out of context and misapplying it to the United States. He even specifically says the situation for people of African descent is different in England than the United States. The majority in Britain are immigrants from Africa; they are not descended from victims of the transatlantic slave trade.

The left needs to do a better job of recognizing that the black communities are not homogeneous blocs. Maybe the CRT models need to be objectively adjusted. I don't think they should be adjusted because they hurt your and Custard's feelings.

That is neither true nor the original conversation with Spark. The issue was the effectiveness on calling people "dumb," "stupid" and/or "bigots" in convincing them how to change their minds.

But the unwillingness to “own it,” is a barrier to convincing them. So it’s really at the heart of the issue.
