Yes, quite a bit, but looks like it should start slowly receding. Several roads closed. Davenport usually gets it the worst since they have a nicer riverfront.

This is Modern Woodman Park in Davenport. Really nice little ball park and over the years the owners have put in measures to stop flood waters from getting to the park so they can continue to operate.

Been to that ballpark a few times.  Very nice.  My son actually played a game there once.  College age team from Peoria played the Quad City 76ers there.

I member when everyone was wringing their hands about the low water levels of the Mississippi 6 months ago. Glad we solved that issue. Nice to see a little good news.

What kind of measures were put in ? A ferry system ?
Water levels are dropping here. I'm heading toward that country north of us tomorrow. Hopefully the water levels are ok up north too.
We've actually gotten off relatively easy with all the snow this winter.

3 years ago (I think) the park was completely surrounded by water and they had a raised walk that got you across the parking lot. Flood walls surround the park. LKdog probably knows more about this than I do, since it's his town. I live out in the sticks, about 20 minutes away.

This is from when the hesco barrier failed is near the riverfront years ago. The barrier held the water back for months, but then...



Crazy how these businesses went from operating to fucked in a matter of moments. Bad deal.

It was mostly due to an unusual windstorm and unusually dry conditions occuring at the wrong time. A  lot of cover crops and stubble had been to tilled to begin planting corn and beans..

Another contributing factor:  long-term removal of hedgerows and trees in agricultural areas that would serve as windbreaks.
