Damn U NASCAR!

Last month I liquidated my holdings in pizza kidnapping joints and threw it all into LGBcoin.

Never know, this might drive the price up!

“The threat continues. And it’s very important, if you look at what’s happening today in my party, the Republican party, rather than reject what happened on 6th, reject the lies about the election and make clear that a president who engaged in those activities can never be president again, unfortunately too many in my own party are embracing that former president, are looking the other way, are minimizing the danger. That’s how democracies die, and we simply cannot let that happen.”

— Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), in an interview with NBC News.

Help! I'm trapped in a Twilight Zone episode where I agree with a Cheney.

"It's an important historical event. You can't overestimate how important it is."

"I'm deeply disappointed we don't have better leadership in the Republican Party to restore the Constitution."

"... it’s not a leadership that resembles any of the folks that I knew when I was here for 10 years -- dramatically."

"Very proud of Liz."

“It’s great coming back.”

"Liz is doing a hell of a job. I’m here to support her."

According to the right wingnuts, home schooling is  the next best thing to school choice or putting gawd back in the classroom.

Yet, remote learning is somehow even worse than crt. It stifles social and emotional development leading to behavioral problems and mental illness.

The only difference is home schooling is   less structured. That is even cited as an advantage. The home schooled students advance at their own pace.

I just had this discussion with someone who made the same idiotic claim that one kind of at home learning is somehow completely different from the other.

Of course the main reason remote learning is apparently bad for the mental health of children is becsuse, wait for it, it takes place at home.

I was told that even though both home schooling and remote learning take place at home, there a yuuge diiference. Whereas remote education is structured, home schooling is flexible, allowing students to advance st their own pace.

Yet loss of classroom structure is cited as one of the major problems with remote learning that contribute to mental health issues.

Other problems associated with remote learning include lack of social interaction, as well as loss of direct access to social services and school meals.

It was pointed out that parents of home schooled children can find alternative social activities for their children. As if parents of remotely educated children can't do this?

It's politics.

Bill Bennett does not like remote learning at all. Here is a partial quote, "Think about homeschooling. Think about a charter school. Think about sending your child elsewhere."

The right wing does not like public schools, so they push alternatives; school choice, charter schools, home schooling, as solutions; even though those might only benefit a minority of children.

Some just want to defund public schools. The true believers actually  believe market competition will improve public schools.

They don't like teachers unions (or unions in general), so they oppose remote education.

The right wing will talk about local control of education, but will  only practice it if the locals agree with them.

"...researchers said that a host of factors related to remote education could chip away at children's mental health, including isolation, decreased access to mental health services, loss of free and reduced-cost meals, disrupted routines, decreased physical activity, lack of structure, stress due to technological limitations, and lack of identification of abuse and neglect."

The Minnesota School Boards Association is leaving the NASB.
Minnesota, which is generally well-regarded in it's education and has a Democratic governor who I voted for primarily because of his stance on education, is joining 18 other states in leaving the NASB.
The letter from the Executive Director of MSBA states concerns with the NASB prior to the NASB letter to the Biden Administration. Now, it may be that the Biden administration Education Secretary may have been in discussions with NASB that prompted the letter ..
