It's only incriminating because it can be taken out of context..

For example, the cloth mask is effective at protecting others from us. It's not effective at protecting us from virus that has already become airborne.

He was consistent on that.

People still insist he lied about the cloth masks.

That's why he would put his mask on before stepping in front of a camera and take it off when the camera was off.
That's why he would wear 2 masks when, as you say, 1 is effective.
That's why, depending on the situation, he wouldn't wear a mask but have 1 readily available in case a camera showed up.

When you say "effective" do you mean 100% effective or is maybe 50% good enough to be considered "effective."
Cloth masks reduce transmission of droplets. Aerosols, not so much.

That is exactly what Fauci said. The cloth mask effectively blocks outgoing respiratory droplets before they become aerosolized..They don't do well with incoming aerosolized virus.

At one point, it was determined that wearing a cloth mask over a surgical mask afforded the best protection.

It would be kind of pointless for a healthy person who tested negative to wear a cloth mask. Others who were infected wearing cloth  masks would protect the uninfected

However, if everyone wore a minimum of a cloth mask, this would have greatly reduced transmission. It made more sense to just tell everyone to wear one than to say only those infected and contagious must wear it.

Fauci should have been setting an example by wearing one in public even though he was not infected and contagious.

It's better to have it and not need it, than need and not have it.

It's not that hard
