These cops were morons and should probably have the book thrown at them. With that said, I would like to see the entire video. How did Mr Floyd end up on the ground with a cop's leg on his neck in the first place? 99.9% of all these things are preventable with a simple "yes officer, Ill do exactly what you tell me to do" attitude.

That did not take long.  Just cooperate with the police and they will not kill you.  Of course, there have been cases of mentally or physically impaired people who could not cooperate, but that that's another issue.

My thinking is the people who say just cooperate  are the same ones who don't want to wear masks because it violates their rights. Not you specifically, I mean in general.  As long as the cops are harassing someone else, they probably did something to provoke it. Just don't  inconvenience me.
I dont see how being physically impaired would stop you from complying with a cop. You have a case when it comes to mentally impaired. Although, when it comes to being on the road and you are pulled over, you are putting yourself at risk if you are mentally impaired and not capable of listening to a cop. My thinking is the people who dont want to cooperate are the same ones that think "the man" is against them and that his, her, or its rights are violated daily. Truth is, it's always been their own fault for their failures in life and nobody elses. Am I saying it's never the cop's fault? Hell no. There are cops that are pieces of shit out there. Because of that, when im pulled over, my hands are in the 10/2 position at all times and if i have to move them I ask if I can. Also, I am as polite as can be. There is literally no reason to be an asshole to a cop because you will never win.

Yeah but, it's human to react in a number of ways when you're very stressed.  I get nervous when a cop with siren passes me even though I'm not the target.  Cops are supposed to be trained to react professionally in whatever circumstance they find themselves in and most of them go a career doing so.  The few bad apples need to be culled and it's a shame that sometimes it takes a tragedy to accomplish this.

People get harassed while walking on the street, in motel rooms, on their own porch, in their home, and so on.  Passengers in vehicles get harassed. There have been cases involving deaf and/ or blind people being tazed, beaten, or shot by officers.

This is very debatable depending on the situation and if they deserve the harassment.

This is the same thing as saying "abortion should be allowed because of all the rapists" when the percentage is so low that arguing this point is just stupid. If we were to agree that these extremely rare cases are 100% the cops fault, can we then agree that every other legit case could be avoided if the person the cop is dealing with is not a dumbass?

For sure. Imagine how the cop feels every time he pulls someone over. The cop has no idea what he is getting himself into. Sure, they are trained (many poorly), but like you said, human nature is a hell of a thing and it goes both ways.

Thing is, you - you personally - don't need to be that subservient in order to survive a speeding ticket.  I've lipped off to cops before when they were flat out full of shit and the end result was the cop *apologized* to me. He lied to me and said "There is a bikes prohibited sign back there" and instead of saying "Sorry officer" I said "That's a lie. Shall we go over there so you can show me this imaginary sign?"

If I were black, he'd have found some reason to call backup and hold me.

More to the point, the guy in Minnesota was on the ground for what, 10 minutes? Completely under control, and begging for help. And they said screw it and killed him. Meanwhile Jared Loughner is alive, he shot a congresswoman and killed six people yet they managed to get him into custody without injury.

There is an easy way for all those cops to avoid this.

Don't become a cop.

How is your argument any more valid?

First impressions, it doesnt look good for the cop(s), but I think I'll wait until there's more info.

The protestors don't learn very well. If you don't want to get tear gassed, show up to your protest packing an AR-15

Good thinking. Sounds like a responsible suggestion.

Even if the person acts stupid; it is the officer's job to be diplomatic and de-escalate.

My whole point was the same people who trust the private sector, distrust government, dislike taxes & regulation, probably think wearing masks to prevent violates their rights, and so on; would be the most likely to come to the defense of the police.

Well, forcing someone to wear a mask everywhere is a violation of rights. If its in a privately owned building then that is just fine, go somewhere else. I dont always defend the police. From that video, they were most certainly in the wrong. Im curious how it got to that point though. My assumption is, Mr Floyd resisted arrest violently, but time will tell. Even then, that cop should have let him up as they were in no danger at that point. Regardless, Im willing to bet it could have never gotten to that point.
