When I was in school, my thought process was get decent grades, then when I wasn't studying to get said grades, go out and get fucked up or get some pussy. Either, or both.

I wasn't looking for some kind of epiphany or indoctrination. I was me. Going to school, getting drunk, getting pussy.

Yeah, well when I was in college in the late 90s and very early 2000s most kids weren’t even talking about politics. Things have changed a little bit since then. The institutions and the people that run them have, too.

We shall see. Despite all that is going on the Dem brand remains toxic, for a large number of reasons.

What I love about Alum (and other people his age on both sides) is that they can completely live in a bubble of their own making without anything from the outside world so much is making a dent in it’s precious little surface. He’s literally the left’s version of the Fox News obsessed Republican retiree.

Low hanging fruit, lazy writing, and frankly boring. It's just played out, regardless of what "side" you are on.

Yep. People typically turn to TV to get away from life’s problems. Sure, a segment of society (those who are not having, or are incapable of having sex, I presume) are enjoying this late night garbage, but it’s become unwatchable for literally everyone else.

AI Overview
News reports from May and October 2025 have widely accused Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, of lying or making false statements regarding several incidents and immigration claims.

Key instances where media outlets and officials claimed McLaughlin made false statements include:

"Body-Slamming" Allegation: McLaughlin claimed that Democratic Representatives "body-slammed" immigration officials during a scuffle outside a New Jersey immigration detention center. Video footage of the incident and statements from Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and a congresswoman present contradicted this claim, showing only light pushing and no wrestling moves.

Juvenile Arrest in Chicago: After a video of a teenager's violent arrest in the Chicago area went viral, McLaughlin posted on X that the video was "from a year ago" and did not involve ICE agents. Both claims were proven false; the video was recent and the agents involved were identified.

Weapon Possession Claim: McLaughlin claimed a 13-year-old boy detained by ICE in Massachusetts was found in possession of a knife and a gun. The town's mayor, Carlo DeMaria, confirmed that a knife was found, but stated "no guns were found" during the arrest.

Misleading Videos: A Washington Post analysis found that the Trump administration, through DHS, had used several misleading or edited videos to promote its immigration agenda, sometimes using footage from different states or from different time periods. McLaughlin did not dispute the errors when approached for comment.

"Wanted Killer" Smear: McLaughlin was accused of smearing a pregnant woman, Iris Dayana Monterroso-Lemus, as a "wanted killer" after the woman reportedly miscarried in ICE detention.

U.S. Citizen Detentions: Despite the DHS issuing a press release in October 2025 that said "ICE does NOT arrest or deport U.S. citizens", a ProPublica report documented at least 170 instances of U.S. citizens who had been detained by federal immigration officers.

"Genocide" of White South Africans: During a heated CNN interview, McLaughlin defended the Trump administration's decision to award refugee status to a group of white South Africans, suggesting a "genocide" might be occurring. The CNN anchor and other experts have widely described the claim of a white South African genocide as a myth.
These events have led to a "problem of credibility" for DHS statements under McLaughlin's tenure as Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs.

AI Overview

Key details of the incident:

The lie: Schwab claimed he was asked to help craft a statement that some targets eluded ICE due to Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf's warning about upcoming raids, but later, Attorney General Jeff Sessions presented a different, "completely false" account that ICE failed to make 800 arrests because of the mayor.

The pressure: When Schwab asked for the discrepancy to be corrected, he was instructed to refer to his original statement without disputing Sessions' version, which he considered a "flat-out lie".

The outcome: Troubled by what he perceived as public deception, Schwab resigned, stating he could not be part of an organization that was comfortable lying to the American public.

Subsequent events: In a later interview with CBS News, which was interrupted by Homeland Security investigators visiting his home, Schwab stated he had never been asked to lie in his 17 years in government service prior to this incident.

No one's overview ......

"Schwab, noting that ICE arrested 232 of roughly 1,000 undocumented immigrants it set out to detain that day. “But what they publicly said was that [Schaaf] let people go. Not true.”

The Homan comment in the press release ....
"Thanks to the dedicated and professional work of ICE deportation officers, we were able to remove many public safety threats from the streets of the Bay Area during the past few days. However, 864 criminal aliens and public safety threats remain at large in the community, and I have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor’s irresponsible decision.

Schwab: ICE set out to detain 1000 .....

Homan: I have to believe .......

One of the arrests: "Among those arrested was ICE fugitive Armando Nuñez-Salgado, 38, a citizen of Mexico and documented Sureño gang member, who has been previously removed by ICE on four prior occasions."

Wednesday ....
Apparently the investigation has been going on since before the Schaaf warning about ICE.
"Nine Alleged Oakland Sureño Gang Members
Charged With Racketeering Conspiracy In Connection With Murders And Related Crimes
Wednesday, October 29, 2025

"Gonzalo Pablo for his role in the November 22, 2018, attempted murder of an unidentified victim;
Cesar Rolando Lucas-Pablo, Jeronimo “Orlando” Pablo-Carrillo, and Carlos Ramiro-Mendoza for their respective roles in the January 5, 2019, murder of a victim identified as “R.B.P.”;
Carlos Ramiro-Mendoza and Jeronimo “Orlando” Pablo-Carillo for their respective roles in the January 19, 2019, murder of a victim identified as “S.R.J.”; .........

A question for ex-agent Schwab. You stated that 1000 people were expected to be detained. Is it possible that the Mayor's warning prevented these people from being detained ?
If so, the murder victims may be alive today.

Absolutely. Nothing makes me say "fuck this" faster than a wall of text.

Although I did read one on OG HQ from Custard that was like 1500 words lol. I remember it because after he posted it, he was like holy shit lol.

And, the 1500 words wasn't copy/paste shit. He sat down and went off, typing in 1500 words.

I don't even remember what it was about. Illini football maybe? Weber? Idk, but it was an impressive diatribe.

I actually copied it out of there and pasted it into word to get the count. It was that impressive.

It’s definitely one of the best things about posting here.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.
