We don't know what they have to go through to gain legal residence, but that is beside the point.

Where do they belong? Someplace they haven't been for decades?

The facts on the ground are they live here, have families here, and work here.

I talked with a guy who said his ancestors came here from Ireland during the potato famine. But he says they did so legally with the intent to assimilate and went through Ellis Island.

Anyone see a problem with that story?

By the way, there are people who think the shutdown is to avoid swearing in a new congressperson who would be the deciding vote in the process to release the Epstein files. Not sure I’m that big of a conspiracy theorist anymore, but it is an interesting coincidence.

co worker - so he's probably a "B"illionaire, so maybe not implausible, except for his 2 kids who are US Citizens in High School with friends and a life. Not even sure what he'd be going back to. That's the ridiculousness of the whole thing, he goes back to get his Visa renewed and just stays in a hotel, because he doesn't have any remaining family there, has been in the US since he was 20 and is over 50.
