I can guarantee you prices are lower in whereverville TN than in Chicagoland.

I just read that some Moody's economist says Illinois is in a recession. Says if NY or CA go into recession, they are apparently treading water right now, the US will officially be in a recession.

Was probably always going to be hard to avoid a recession after they poured rocket fuel on the economy with the trillions of dollars printed while supply chains were overtaxed. Trump and Biden both did it. Inflation predictably spiked, interest had to be quickly raised to try and cool it down, etc. Pretty tough to keep the economy cooking at that rate without more cash injections or some kind of bubble. So a cool down isn’t all bad, and interest is starting to creep down which should spur more activity. Just need to avoid stagflation

Didn’t you say something the other day about grocery prices being low because I’m out in the sticks? They don’t put Costcos in the sticks. Living in Illinois is just a license to overpay for everything you consume while making fun of people who live in places that don’t. I get why California can justify high taxes and cost of living. What’s the draw to overpay for everything in Illinois?

Sure they do. Hillbillies are a huge market Costco figured out they were underexploiting. Fat people eat more food, and now they are one of the largest pharmacies in the world

Dude, it’s been that way for a century.

I do not believe that is true. In my hockey travels I was always surprised to see that Chicagoland had lower prices on many staples when I would go out shopping to get milk and cereal for the kid to eat as a snack before early games.

Beer and booze we definitely have had lower prices than neighboring states.

Also, they are not giving shit away in Champaign - Urbana. They have worse prices than my local Jewels or Tony's from what I have seen.

Ankle. God damn. Couldn't imagine that.

Mine is always in my big toe. Usually right big toe, but had one in the left.

What dosage? I'm doing 100mg once a day.

I get it in both ankles (not at the same time), big toe(s), it has moved around since I started the meds. Ankle is a bitch. Allopurinol is 300mg once/day. That's what she started me at so we're going to have a discussion about the dosage. I've done some research and they usually start out lower and then advance depending upon the effectiveness. I've also read that the flare ups during the first several months on Allopurinol can be more frequent and I've had that. In the past with the really bad ones, she'll inject the infected area with an anti-inflammatory. I did that twice, once in ankle and once on top of the big toe. I'll never do that fucking shit again. Currently on the roids for this flare up.

And no, I'm not some fat ass, but I could drop a few lbs. Drink a lot of water during the work week. Treadmill. Eat mostly normal. Doctor has said there's no clear cause/effect with foods for everybody. So who knows. But it sucks.

I’ve lived in the south. A few times in my life. I can’t remember ever thinking “Chicagoland prices are cheaper than this.”

This was typically true because denser areas have economies of scale, but the problem of late is wages. A lot of that goes back to NIMBYism where housing is blocked in wealthier areas that still want to have stores, so retail labor either has had a disproportionate increase in housing costs, or a similar increase in transportation costs because they have to commute in.

With booze, it's because even in states like Tennessee where bourbon is an iconic state product, the government is still run by puritanical evangelicals who tax the living shit out of booze. Illinois has a super relaxed attitude to liquor compared to most of the US.

When I got to UIUC I had to take a double take to see liquor at Walgreens. And I came from Colorado! To this day, Colorado still has some funky laws. Grocery stores can sell beer - that's it. Not even wine. You have to go to a liquor store. For a long time, Colorado had special "3.2% alcohol" beer that grocery stores sold, higher than that you had to go to a liquor store. The craft beer revolution ended that because the grocery stores wanted to carry Fat Tire/etc... not just 3.2% coors. But still no wine. I was making Chicken Marsala, but grocery store can't sell Marsala wine. I had to go to 4 liquor stores to find Marsala, because it's really not something you drink, you just cook with it, so most stores don't carry it.

My first job was in Boston. I lived in Arlington Mass, which was a DRY TOWN. They had few restaurants because they couldn't sell wine in the restaurants, but of course a couple of Italian places had gotten some exemption to allow BYOW. New Hampshire you could buy beer in stores but liquor you had to go to a State run liquor store. Don't even get me started on Utah.

That sucks. My spots were my left elbow and right pointer finger. But after I started allopurinol, I haven't had an issue for years, and my uric acid levels always test low. I gave up red meat a long time ago, deciding that it was an issue but don't have any proof. Soda is definitely a trigger, high fructose corn syrup is the worst. Probably doesn't hurt that I drink a lot less beer than back in the day. I do exercise a lot and that flushes a lot of shit out of your system - 4x per week Masters swimming and 100-150 miles a week on my bike.

I can't even imagine how bad it would be to have that shit in your ankle.

like you said, it's different for everyone, and there are people out there with very high uric acid levels who never have gout. When I would sense a possible issue, I would take 2 colchicine, and then follow with some advil for a day or so, and usually put it at bay, but if I waited too long, then I'd be toast and have to wait it out. So happy I seem to have found the formula.

Never had a shot for it. And didn't have more flare ups with the allopurinol. I'm on 100 mg once a day. Haven't had anything for a while. So, Idk. The foot doctor did say that I have a lot of arthritis and a big spur on that toe, and they could do surgery to shave it off or some shit. I said, nah. Idk.

I've heard to drink tart cherry juice, and take tumeric, and all kinds of other shit lol. It's crazy.

My worst ever flare up was in the left big toe. It's always been in the right, but the absolute most fucking painful one was in the left. Doc gave me colchicine and told me to give that a shot. Nothing. If anything, it got worse. Then, he said ok pred will work. Do it.

Lo and behold, within 24 hours I was good. Fucking hell.

Apparently I've found the formula too. Hopefully. Because I fucking hate flare ups.

Now, I just need the plantar fascia fixed, and I'm getting mad pussy again.

Right pointer finger. Hmm. I get annoyed by that too. Never made the connection.

I just figured it was from jacking off a lot.
