It sounds like Robinson and the others in that Discord chat were largely apolitical.  I doubt he was driven by politics in any conventional sense. It seems the issue he cared about was his partner undergoing transition.  Other than that, he likely was a relatively nonpolitical, relatively conservative lapsed Mormon who liked guns, gaming and the outdoors. 

I think it was fundamentally a personal motive.

Keep in mind that Christian conservatives do not give a shit (for the most part) about reducing abortion. What they really want is control over women and more babies. That’s why so many Christian conservatives are fighting tooth and nail to restrict access to affordable contraceptives.

A lot of these people have been convinced that Judge Judy’s jizz is sacred, and that every load he shoots that doesn’t result in a baby is an affront to God’s Plan.

If that's what he cared about, there are thousands of ways to effect that change without killing someone, ending up in prison, and getting the death penalty. Either he was very stupid, or just nuts. Even if he formed that motive in his brain, his brain wasn't functioning, so trying to ascertain the finer grain points of his motive is just silly.

I dunno. I know a lot of people who are just full on "don't kill the babies". I think that the power structure cares far less about that but really likes the votes of those who do, and are very good character actors.

I'll go out on a limb and say that a moderate or conservative most likely isn't going to view Kirk as spewing enough hate to spend over a week planning his murder and using a hand me down rifle from a grandfather to do it.

"Hey fascist ! Catch !" most likely doesn't come from a moderate or conservative.
It does sound a bit progressivey.
