I would hope that, since 1985, home security systems and auto theft deterrent systems would have an effect on reducing property crime.

According to FBI-based data compiled by Beautify Data and USAFacts:

District of Columbia (not a state, but often included in comparisons) had the highest violent crime rate at 1,150.9 per 100,000.

Among actual states, New Mexico led with 749.3 per 100,000, followed by Alaska with 726.3 per 100,000.

USAFacts also reported Alaska’s 2023 violent crime rate at 726 per 100,000, which was 94% higher than the 50-state average.

He shot up a Catholic Church. At some point if you have an entire Religion, backed by the US President, telling you that you're a sicko wacko, it becomes reality.

Your choice. You can hold the line on policing your morality and can create more wackos and chaos, or you can help people and prevent the psychosis. Well, there is more to this story that I'm betting the Failing NY Times is not reporting and will gloss over for obvious reasons... In addition to being a trans, this guy wanted to kill Trump, wanted to kill Jews (but picked his old Catholic school/church to attack for some reason), and supported Hamas. Basically, he shared the views of your standard Progressive POS.

Not surprised you brought up the trans connection. 

Gender identity is much less important than their crazy, homicidal fantasies.  Just look at the manifestos, videos and obsession with mass shootings.     

Lack of adequate mental health support and easy access to the weapons and large capacities are the root cause of the shooting-up-schools problem...if we want to solve it.
