I just don’t think that’s true at all. Almost everyone I know legally owns a firearm and exactly none of them think they can take on the US military.

I believe it’s a strawman constructed by gun control advocates as a workaround to the constitution. It also assumes that the tyranny will be enforced by our own military.

If our military gets turned on the American public we have way worse problems than private gun ownership. Then you have to consider than in civil wars and other uprisings military assets end up in hands of both sides. Also, our military is fairly right wing and those folks may not just automatically engage in warfare against their “own”

The late Rush Limbaugh was very clear and specific about the purpose of the 2nd Amendment. I guess he must have been a covert gun control advocate?

Rush specifically talked about a bunch of civilians fighting the US military? There are a lot of forms of tyranny that an armed public could thwart or prevent that don’t long jump to the conclusion of taking on the military itself.

The Second Amendment is a largely outdated Amendment. That’s not to say that there aren’t legit reasons for gun ownership.
