Collecting donations is fine (at least in the system we have, as I’ve said, elections should be publicly funded IMO). But there is nothing ok about outside special interest groups flooding local elections with cash. There is a ginormous difference between Kamala Harris outraising Trump and what happened in Brooklyn and St. Louis. The situations aren’t even comparable.

I complain about money in politics all the time. I’ve even done it in text messages with you in the last few days. But in the system we currently have, why would I complain about Harris outraising Trump (especially with no context given. Did the majority of the money come from billionaires? Unlikely, it probably came mostly from newly energized grass roots voters). Any big money donors were already likely vested.

I’m not a fan of outside interests or PACs buying any election. But rest assured, this election wasn’t lost over the infrastructure bill vote as PAMan likes to pretend it was. It was lost because massive amounts of outside money was funneled to the opposing candidate (the ones that didn’t criticize Israel).
