If any of his information was used in criminal trials do those trials need to be revisited ?

This can't be the first time something like this happened. In general, I'd guess paid confidential informants have credibility issues. There has to be a policy to deal with it. I don't know what that is. Do you?

I would guess information from dubious sources isn't used in used in trials unless it is corroborated.

I believe it was a Pennsylvania Asst US Attorney, Brady, ? who gave the FBI 1023 to Weiss in Oct 2020 to investigate.
Weiss' office apparently ignored it, prevented investigation of it and avoided presenting it to the agents investigating Hunter's tax issues. Some tax years for Hunter were allowed to expire by Weiss.
The FBI considered Smirnov credible until Grassley released the 1023.
Some may suggest the Smirnov charges are simply an effort to undermine a Biden impeachment inquiry. While others say the entire impeachment effort should now end.
Funny how that works.

If the same scenario applied to Trump, would Smirnov still be considered "credible" ?

Mn, your informants come as they are. As prosecutors frequently have to note in trials, who does the jury expect criminals to hang out with besides other criminals? If these people were saints or otherwise decent people, they would not be hanging out with gang bangers....or Trump.
