While it’s possible that some suicidal attackers may have gone undiagnosed, only three of the 63 perpetrators, or about 5% of the total examined, had a known psychotic disorder.

Blaming mental illness for mass shootings inflicts a damaging stigma on the millions of people who suffer from clinical afflictions, the vast majority of whom are not violent. Extensive research shows the link between mental illness and violent behavior is small and not useful for predicting violent acts; people with diagnosable conditions such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder are in fact far more likely to be victims than perpetrators of violence."

Maybe Republicans want to fully fund mental health care?

From what I can gather, serial and rampage killers are associated with personality disorders, not the same thing as psychoses. A fine point to a layperson or politician?

iirc, they tend to be narcissistic, paranoid, and lacking in empathy. Some are prone to fits of uncontrolled rage.

I have an acquaintance who reportedly has used compassion cultivation and insight meditation with moderate success to treat sociopathy, psychopathy, and borderline disorder.

GOP Sen. Johnson just tried for a bill that could see more guns in schools—I blocked it.

The truth: There were officers at the school in Texas. The shooter got past them.

We need real solutions—We will vote on gun legislation starting with the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act.

McConnell is no dummy.  He understands that if the GOP is seen to stonewall on this issue, it will hurt them in November. 

I think any forward movement at all would be far better than none.  You’re not going to pass anything of real significance with just one party.

P.S. Please don't invite Schumer, Johnson or Scott to the meetings.

Rick Scott calls someone else a liar? That's rich.

On various 2nd degree of separation, you can feel the gun nuts trying to circle around some sort of line of "give back" - they know that the public is super pissed at them and they need to get in front of it with "well, we need `common sense gun legislation' and 'mental health'" (using a Trumpian weird "we need mental health").

it's time for the Democrats to say screw these assholes and pounce. Instead of saying "well, it will be easy now to get an inch" say "fuck these assholes" and take a mile.
