Kyle Orton with legs or Nick Foles ceiling. Matt Cassell floor.
I’d say Tom Brady is the ceiling. When Brady started with the Patriots as a late round pick, he was simply managing the game. Made all the throws he needed to make, kept the chains moving, didn’t take sacks, and wound up with 7 rings
The throws that Purdy made tonight, the short tight window throws, the 3rd down throws, not taking sacks, Fields isn’t capable of that. You have to make split second reads and know exactly where the ball needs to go. Fields can’t do that. Holding the ball and scrambling has never worked in the NFL. When that’s the only thing the QB can do, no he won’t be successful.
The only limitation I see on Purdy is that he has a long wind up when he throws. I think that probably dropped him in the draft. And he doesn’t have the height other QBs have. But Wilson and Drew Brees made it work without height.
