I'd say Purdy had a good game. He did the 3 things you want. He managed the offense, had no turnovers and got the win.

Not good enough: Did not run for 100 yards and did not hold onto the ball too long.

He's got another chance coming up. Unlike some qbs.

Kyle Orton with legs or Nick Foles ceiling. Matt Cassell floor.

I’d say Tom Brady is the ceiling.  When Brady started with the Patriots as a late round pick, he was simply managing the game. Made all the throws he needed to make, kept the chains moving, didn’t take sacks, and wound up with 7 rings

The throws that Purdy made tonight, the short tight window throws, the 3rd down throws, not taking sacks,  Fields isn’t capable of that. You have to make split second reads and know exactly where the ball needs to go.  Fields can’t do that. Holding the ball and scrambling has never worked in the NFL. When that’s the only thing the QB can do, no he won’t be successful.

The only limitation I see on Purdy is that he has a long wind up when he throws. I think that probably dropped him in the draft.  And he doesn’t have the height other QBs have.  But Wilson and Drew Brees made it work without height.

Should the Bears trade the #1 pick to San Fran for Tom Brady Jr?

Having your running back snap the ball and be the only guy "blocking" on the most important play of your season is 4D level chess shit.

49ers wouldn’t even do that. There’s no player in this upcoming draft they could take that would be more valuable to the 49ers than Brock Purdy playing QB.

Having a QB on a rookie deal that you can win with is the most valuable commodity in the NFL. Sure Aaron Rodgers is a better QB than Purdy, but even he wouldn’t make the 49ers better paying him franchise dollars and having less money to spend on the rest of the team, than having Purdy on cheap rookie deal for 5 years and having the rest of the team built up.

I think the 49ers are going to go on a Seahawks like run with Purdy similar when Seahawks had Russell Wilson on his rookie deal.  They got one Super Bowl win and really should have had 2.

Purdy is an impressive rookie. Definitely under-drafted. He’ll have a career in the league. Am I penciling him in as the starter for San Francisco the next 5 years? Absolutely not. His ceiling is probably a more mobile Jimmy G. It’s likely he sticks around 8-10 years as a backup. His floor is probably Gardner Minshew.

I wish I could put all of this in my sig. can’t wait to see how this looks 2-3 years from now when Dominic is on his 39th username.

It’s possible he’s a long-term starter for them. I’d venture to guess the odds are against it, though.

Josh Allen was decidedly mediocre much of the 2nd half of the season.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bills-stefon-diggs-yells-at-josh-allen-during-season-ending-loss-to-bengals-reportedly-leaves-stadium-early/amp/

He was. Is it me, or does he not seem to play well in weather?

Can Diggs run block? If so, maybe the Bear could trade for him.
