His arm and mobility are fine. Nothing special, but good enough to be a competent starter. The Patriots drafted him hoping they were getting a Tom Brady clone (not that anyone is going to perfectly replicate Tom Brady).

Yes, apparently Saban recommended Belichick take him, but it wasn’t a surprise at all. Jones was graded a 1st rounder. This is a mock draft report BTW.

Many NFL GMs have been fooled by that in recent years. It's the SEC myth. Right now, Tua and Hurts are bucking the trend, though.
