I take it you’ve spent significant time at mega (MAGA?) churches and are intimately familiar with their patrons?

How else do you know how anyone votes without inherently stereotyping?

Lots of conservative people wanted anyone but Trump but just like with Hillary millions of people held their noses and voted for one or the other along party lines based on one of them saying the few things they really wanted to hear.

Idk it just seems like there should be more concern over the quality of candidates that are emerging from both sides of the aisle rather than demonizing and stereotyping entire groups of people for voting for the wrong person. (Who was a product of a broken system)

The Founders warned us about political parties for a reason.

The founders, or founder, used the word factions and assumed there would be many, not two. As much as they distrusted central governance, he / they actually saw local 'factions' as the most dangerous to liberty.

Anyone watching Big Sky season 2? Powerful landowner in cahoots with corrupt local cops.

"a number of citizens, whether amounting to a minority or majority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community."

You're suggesting that John Jay, Hamilton and Madison just might be one person?

I suppose the Intelligence Community asessment and the sanctions should help in negotiating the Ukraine-Russia brouhaha.

Nope, just emphasizing the father of the constitution's take. I think it was Madison who assumed there would be many factions. Also, while he was concerned about the power of the central government, he saw local factions / government as potentially worse.

This is his definition of faction:

"a number of citizens, whether amounting to a minority or majority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community."

Not necessarily how we would define a political party in the US. More like European  parties, or caucuses? within US parties.

Huge blunder.  If we learned anything over the last four years, it is that love letters and theatrical summits are the most effective ways to deal with dangerous autocrats.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalist_No._9

"Men of factious tempers, of local prejudices, or of sinister designs, may, by intrigue, by corruption, or by other means, first obtain the suffrages, and then betray the interests, of the people. The question resulting is, whether small or extensive republics are more favorable to the election of proper guardians of the public weal; and it is clearly decided in favor of the latter by two obvious considerations:"

"The smaller the society, the fewer probably will be the distinct parties and interests composing it; the fewer the distinct parties and interests, the more frequently will a majority be found of the same party; and the smaller the number of individuals composing a majority, and the smaller the compass within which they are placed, the more easily will they concert and execute their plans of oppression. Extend the sphere, and you take in a greater variety of parties and interests; you make it less probable that a majority of the whole will have a common motive to invade the rights of other citizens; or if such a common motive exists, it will be more difficult for all who feel it to discover their own strength, and to act in unison with each other."
