I have noticed little to no social media comment on Trump's company's use / abuse of fringe benefits to avoid taxes. I know there are gray areas wrt company cars, conferences in resorts, company paid lodging, etc., but from what I have read, the allegations amount to blatant fraud.
For example, I used to work for a company that maintained apartments in Chicago. These were made available to employees who were in Chicago on temporary assignment. I am pretty sure those employees did not have to pay income and payroll taxes on the value of the rent. That probably was legit.
Have an important job with a NYC based company? Don't want to commute, but want to avoid the city income tax? Maintain an affordable home in the suburbs and list that as your address. Have your company convert part of your income to rent for a luxury apartment in Manhattan and live there. Claim it is for the convenience of the employer, therefore a tax exempt fringe benefit. You also save federal income tax, as well as payroll tax. Maybe NY state tax too? Legit or fraud?
Company cars are fine, and a luxury car is likely cool for the CFO. But a company car for his wife?
iirc, before tax educational expenses for children are allowed within limits, but not for grandchildren.
