Here is an interesting opinion by an elected official.....

Arizona AG suggests residents may gun down masked ICE agents if they felt threatened under state law
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes warned that the "Stand Your Ground" law, which allows citizens to use deadly force if they believe they're in imminent danger, could become a "recipe for disaster"

I thought that when the investigation was completed there was no proof of whipping
That was my point.
Biden and members of his administration jumped on the opportunity to discredit the border patrol agents.
The agents didn't whip the migrants.

Vance tries to defend a federal law enforcement officer under the immunity doctrine and Tempo accuses him of bald-faced lies.
The qualified immunity doctrine does exist.

And they investigated. The feds are not investigating what happened in Minnesota.

It appears as tho the chief law enforcement officer in Az may be letting Az residents know that they have rights.
A 'we may choose to defend your rights but don't count on it' may have been useful. Or a 'we may be obligated to charge you'.

And they investigated. The feds are not investigating what happened in Minnesota.
Tempo's bald-faced lie was directed at Vance. Vance wouldn't be the person investigating.
Nobody had investigated the Del Rio incident, yet .....
In response to a reporter's question, Biden also addressed the controversy in Del Rio, describing the actions of the agents on horseback as being "beyond an embarrassment."
"It’s dangerous. It’s wrong," Biden said. "It sends the wrong message around the world. It sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are.”

The front left tire, directed at Ross, was spinning on ice. He was fortunate that there was ice under the tire.

And I'm not sure that they've ended all investigation into the incident.

Well, you had a few DOJ personnel quit since they were not going to investigate

I think they may have quit because the DOJ was mentioning investigating.
Investigating the ICE tracking efforts.

And they investigated. The feds are not investigating what happened in Minnesota.
The 'investigation' lasted for 10 months.
The photographer spoke up within 48 hours of the incident to say there was no whipping.

Oh, so it's now 2 lies.

I think his 2nd statement was directed at the TDS crowd to inform them that the standard hasn't been changed. It's the same as it's been.

Ross is a federal law enforcement officer and was engaged in lawful federal enforcement activities and is therefore covered by immunity.

The standard is "lawful" activities. Unlawful activities would not provide immunity next week, last week, the week before that, the week before that or the week before that.

Do you see how this works ?

If they are engaged in lawful activities; then why would they even need immunity?

I think the VP screwed up when he said the agent had absolute immunity. That is reserved forJudges, Juries, maybe prosecutors? In in their official duties..

What LEOs have is qualified immunity, I think.

No, they quit because the DOJ was sweeping this under the rug.

DOJ lawyers quit over push to investigate Renee Good's widow | Advocate.com https://share.google/9W8JTfNDKPfH7wscq

Six prosecutors in Minnesota resigned Tuesday, The New York Times reports, including the second in command at the U.S. attorney’s office there, Joseph Thompson. He objected to the idea of a criminal investigation of Becca Good, Renee Nicole Good’s widow, and also to “the department’s reluctance to investigate the shooter,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross, according to the Times.

Harry Jacobs, Melinda Williams, and Thomas Calhoun-Lopez, all career prosecutors in the Minnesota office, resigned as well, along with others who were not identified. The Times sought comment from all of them and Thompson, but everyone declined.

There were other resignations last week from the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, MS NOW reports. The chief of the division’s criminal section, plus the principal deputy chief, deputy chief, and acting deputy chief resigned after Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon said there would be no investigation of the shooter.

The qualified immunity doctrine does exist.

Vance said absolute immunity, not qualified immunity. Instead of admitting the mistake, he tried to claim he never said it.

Border patrol agents on horseback herding migrants like livestock was a bad look. The long reins looking like whips proved to be a red herring as much as anything.

AI Overview

Yes, the September 2021 Del Rio, Texas, incident—in which Border Patrol agents on horseback were seen confronting Haitian migrants—caused U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to change several operational policies and procedures.

Following an investigation into the incident, which concluded that agents used "unnecessary force" and exhibited "unprofessional and dangerous behavior," the following changes were implemented:

-Suspension of Mounted Patrol: Horse patrols were temporarily suspended in the immediate Del Rio area following the incident.

-Prohibition of "Rein Twirling": CBP officially prohibited the twirling of horse reins as a crowd control tactic.

-Improved Command and Control: CBP revised its incident command practices for large-scale operations to prevent "unmoderated and unrecorded tactical radio frequencies" from being used, which had created management failures during the incident.

-Enhanced Training and Pre-approval: Local supervisors are now required to better assess field conditions and potential risks before approving the deployment of mounted units.

-Adoption of Body Cameras: While not exclusively due to Del Rio, the incident accelerated the deployment of body-worn cameras to agents, which the agency had previously rejected.

Investigation Findings

Although the investigation found no evidence that agents struck any migrants with their reins, it did find that agents used "unnecessary" force, shouted profanity, and acted in a way that violated CBP operational objectives. The report highlighted that the agents were assisting Texas state troopers rather than following direct Border Patrol command.

Disciplinary Actions

CBP initiated disciplinary proceedings against several agents involved in the incident, ranging from suspensions to letters of reprimand.
