"No, I didn’t say — and I don’t think any other official within the Trump administration said that officers who engaged in wrongdoing would enjoy immunity.
https://www.nytimes.com/video/us/politics/100000010662338/according-to-vance-ice-officers-no-longer-have-absolute-immunity.html

He initially had said that Ross was doing his job and covered by immunity. He didn't say that all officers were covered by immunity.

"You have a federal law enforcement official engaging in federal law enforcement action — that's a federal issue. That guy is protected by absolute immunity".

They quit because they were sweeping it under the rug, as the article clearly states.
You're referring to the article written about the motives of people who would not comment on the "according to the Times" article ?

Or are you referring to the MS Now article ?

I'm referring to the facts reported in multiple outlets that DOJ staffers resigned because DOJ leadership was sweeping the shooting under the rug.

Ross had maybe 1/4 second for a debate.

He should never have placed himself in front of a running vehicle.

AI Overview

A 2013 report commissioned by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) found that agents were deliberately putting themselves in the paths of moving vehicles, creating a scenario that justified the use of deadly force.

Key Findings of the 2013 Study:

*Engineered Justification: Agents frequently positioned themselves in front of or behind moving vehicles, exposing themselves to risk and creating a "justification" for shooting at the drivers.

*Ineffectiveness and Danger: The report highlighted that shooting at a moving vehicle is ineffective and dangerous, as a disabled driver can turn the car into an uncontrolled, "unguided missile".

*Policy Recommendations: The study recommended that agents be prohibited from shooting at vehicles unless the occupants are using deadly force against the agent by means other than the vehicle itself.

*Rock Throwing: The report also criticized agents for shooting in frustration at individuals throwing rocks, often when they could have simply moved away.

Context and Aftermath:

-Unreported Findings: CBP initially tried to prevent this 21-page report from becoming public.

-Policy Changes: Following the study, DHS policies were updated to generally prohibit firing at moving vehicles unless the driver poses an imminent threat of death or serious injury, encouraging agents to move out of the path instead.

-Ongoing Issues: Despite these recommendations, cases of immigration agents shooting at moving vehicles have continued to raise concerns, with recent analysis suggesting a "pattern" of similar, questionable incidents

I didn't leave anything out. Vance said "that guy is protected by absolute immunity'. Doesn't matter if he is taking a piss or doing his job. LEOs are not protected by absolute immunity. They are protected by qualified immunity.

Absolute and Qualified immunity are different animals.

AI Overview

Based on available reports and video analysis of the January 7, 2026, incident in Minneapolis, the narrative that Renee Good aimed her vehicle directly at ICE agent Jonathan Ross, with spinning tires on ice saving him, stems from allegations made by federal officials and defenders of the agent.

Conflicting Details on the Incident:

*Federal/Official Allegations: Officials, including former President Donald Trump, claimed Good "viciously ran over" agent Ross, and that she was a "rioter" who "weaponized" her vehicle. They allege she aimed at officers, necessitating deadly force in self-defense.

*Video Evidence Analysis: Reviews of cell phone footage from the incident, including video taken by Agent Ross, have raised doubts about the official account. Analyses show that:

-Good's car did not appear to knock Ross down.

-Ross's legs were to the side of the SUV as it moved by him.

*The video shows Good's tires were pointed away from Ross, turning hard right to avoid him, rather than directly at him, as she fled the scene.

*The "Ice/Spinning" Allegation: While some accounts describe the car accelerating and moving rapidly, the claim that spinning tires specifically prevented the agent from being hit is disputed by visual evidence suggesting the agent was already moving to the side of the vehicle, or that the vehicle's trajectory was not directly aimed at him.

*Injury Claims: While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that Agent Ross suffered "internal bleeding" to his torso from being struck, multiple sources indicate the video evidence does not show him being pinned or run over.

Ultimately, while the agent reported fearing for his life and the vehicle was in motion, the available video footage from the scene contradicts claims that Good intentionally steered directly into the agent to hit him.

A Yale Law School graduate knows the difference between qualified and absolute immunity. He lied, then lied about lying. It’s on video, and Mn still can’t concede this point.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Shooting people is his job?

I wouldn't be so sure with a DEI hillbilly enrollee like Vance.

He acknowledged that the article stated that. He also stated the article also didn’t have any actual statements from them because they declined to comment. So basically it could be entirely made the fuck up, which is Mn’s point I believe. Which goes right along with Mn always pointing out all the wishy wash language used by these outlets that are big on accusations and insinuations but woefully short on any kind of testimony, direct quotes, etc. They can  and do imply whatever they want knowing that the vast majority of their audience will lap it up as gospel regardless of any substance provided to substantiate it. Yes, I realize this happens all over the political spectrum.

I prefer to live in the real world where some government lawyers actually have some dignity left and actually believe in quaint notions like truth, justice, and the Ametican way. The last one left can turn out the lights on the remaining incompetent DOJ stooges.

At least four high ranking individuals left immediately after they decided not to investigate. Sometimes 1 + 1 = 2

The failing NYT article may be another one of those journalist contacts the individual saying 'we're running a story with a release of 4pm today stating that ........... do you care to comment? story.

The individual doesn't respond and the story gets published.

Right-wingers love to gaslight the public and tell everyone that the left is the violent side. Here a guy who calls himself Trump’s “Secretary of Retribution” interrupts the House judiciary committee during Jack Smith’s hearing. I wonder who Biden’s “Secretary of Retribution” was. Probably Hunter.
