They were his 2 kids and his wife was on the plane too.

We know he has a thing for his own daughter.

While Mn and Custard whistle past the graveyard.

"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

"The original name of the Kennedy Center was the National Cultural Center, a project first envisioned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to create a central hub for American arts, later renamed as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy after his assassination."

Did anyone else watch the Kennedy Center honors?

It was weird having a President host an event. Although hosting events might be his strength.

The show was pretty good. Not great, not bad.

Trump kept overt politics out of it.

All references were to the Kennedy Center.

The 5 honorees were fine, but sorry Donald, they don't "represent the totality of America."

George Straight, Michael Crawford, Kiss, Sylvester Stallone, and Gloria Gaynor. Notice anything all five have in common?

George Straight, who emerged as part of 1980's neo-traditional country, represents all of Country & Western? Very good choice.

Michael Crawford represents Broadway. Another solid choice.

Kiss: 70s hard/glam/stadium rockers represent all of Rock and Roll? Given limited options, not a bad choice.

Sly Stallone represents American Cinema. I guess Harvey Weinstein wasn't available?

Gloria Gaynor: a no-brainer for Disco.

There was a reference to gospel, don't recall which person. Gaynor?

That's is the totality of American performing arts? Apparently Blues/Jazz, Soul/Doo Wop, and Hip Hop/Rap don't exist in Trump's America?

They should have just closed the place after they honored Led Zeppelin.

STFU and admit you’re wrong for once.

It’s not a good look when you tell me to STFU and admit I’m wrong when I am not wrong. Very Jobu-esque.

Thanks for clearing that up for Tempo and PAMan

"An arts center" existed before Kennedy. "I am right." - Custard

Fucking delusional. The Kennedy Arts Center was built and named for Kennedy as a "living memorial."

They literally broke ground a year after his death. It is literally Kennedy's memorial.

AI Overview

Original funds for the Kennedy Center started with the National Cultural Center Act, signed by President Eisenhower in 1958, which authorized the project but relied on private funding, with President Kennedy later boosting fundraising, and actual federal construction funds came in phases, particularly after being designated a living memorial in 1964, blending private donations and federal matching/bond money for the build

Key Milestones & Funding

1958 (Eisenhower): The National Cultural Center Act was signed, creating the center but requiring it to be privately funded for construction.

1962 (Kennedy): President & Mrs. Kennedy launched a major fundraising drive, revitalizing the project.

1964 (Johnson): After JFK's assassination, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation making it a living memorial, with federal funds (matching, bonds, etc.) combining with private donations for construction.

1966: Construction began, with the center opening in 1971.

So, while the idea and initial framework (1958) and major fundraising push (1962) happened earlier, significant federal construction funding was authorized and combined with private money after it became the Kennedy memorial in 1964.

This is not a “win” for Custard.

This is similar to when custard tells us that health and climate scientists aren’t as knowledgeable as he is, and we should listen to him and not them

The National Cultural Center conceived in 1958 was not an actual place. It only existed as a concept.

I’ve never said any of that. Where I push back is on people like you saying “consensus” as if the 97% or whatever all share the same viewpoints. Not true at all. And health science is HEAVILY influenced by huge corporations, which you normally hate, but for some reason trust implicitly when it comes to medicine. Wild.
