Stopping illegals from getting assistance is eliminating my job?!

Aren't you for getting rid of most types of welfare?

Wrong

"President Donald Trump approved major disaster declarations for Alaska, Nebraska, North Dakota and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe late Wednesday, while denying requests from Vermont, Illinois and Maryland and leaving other states still waiting for answers."

"The decisions fell mostly along party lines, with Trump touting on social media Wednesday that he had “won BIG” in Alaska in the last three presidential elections and that it was his “honor” to deliver for the “incredible Patriots" of Missouri, a state he also won three times."

"The states approved for disaster declarations include Alaska, which filed an expedited request after experiencing back-to-back storms this month that wrecked coastal villages, displaced 2,000 residents and killed at least one person. Trump approved a 100% cost share of disaster-related expenses for 90 days."

Keep reading. The Alaska denial is later in the article.

That's actually the same article that I had read before I responded.

The last time Dems supported a CR, Republicans used reconciliation to pass the Big Ugly Budget Bill.
Tell that to the people who won't have benefits on Friday.

This one? "one from Alaska to rebuild a public safety building that burned in a July electrical fire."

The expedited request was approved.

Tell that to the people who won't be able to afford health insurance.

Stock market hit highs under Biden, but I don't remember you praising him.

China has the upper hand when it comes to rare earth minerals.   That's not going to change anytime soon.  We're playing catch up.

There is no pending peace deal in the Middle East; just a ceasefire that's hanging by a thread.

Polls show that Americans are souring on the economy and job market.  Consumer confidence is down.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/americans-are-more-worried-about-their-chances-on-the-job-market-under-trump-ap-norc-poll-finds

The China will throw Trump a few bones to help US farmers, but they are working long term to diversify imports of agricultural products.

China is also deepening it economic ties with Southeast Asian countries.
https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/china-asean-sign-upgraded-free-trade-pact-2025-10-28/

Of course consumers sour on stuff when the media is on a 24/7 anti-Trump spin cycle that completely ignores anything positive that’s happening, of which there is plenty. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course it influences people who don’t pay attention to what’s actually going on.

My savings and stocks and 401K are booming, prices on a lot of key consumables are down. Some of them WAY down. Crime, illegal immigration, and drug cartels are being demolished.  Cities are being cleaned up. We are finally bringing the White House into the 21st century. Insane woke ideology has been crushed. None of the trade war alarmism you’ve been preaching for 6 months has come to pass, I keep getting emails from suppliers I do business with about how they are reshoring production, etc.

Trump’s policies are working for the American people…OF COURSE you’re mad.

The tweet gave a pretty specific example of how it affects “working people,” but you missed the point of the comment on multiple levels. It specifically mentions that working people are also affected (maybe some people aren’t being paid enough).

Maybe WalMart shouldn’t have 15,000+ employees on SNAP when the Waltons are the richest family in America? On what planet does that seem ethical?

I refuse to shop at Walmart because the organization sucks. They treat their suppliers as bad as their employees. I wish they’d all go away. I don’t make their policies. Other similar businesses have shown that they can pay their employees a livable wage and still be cost competitive, so I give them my business.

One-third of Amazon employees have received some type of government assistance in the last 3 months. How’s the owner of Amazon doing?

Full time? Part time? How many dependents? What areas and cost of living? Context free stats like this are basically meaningless and if nothing else at least demonstrate that the safety net is helping people in need.

Probably isn’t against welfare, just tired of the waste, fraud, and abuse that occurs not just amongst some recipients, but within the administration of the programs themselves. Wanting to clean up and streamline the programs and bureaus isn’t indicative of wanting to abolish benefits for those in need; just a real world realization of the BS that goes on.

We all know you won’t be happy until the rich people you envy and despise pay a universal basic income for people. But until that happens it would be nice if you’d at least acknowledge that the system as it exists incentivizes some pretty negative behaviors.

You have a point, sort of; a lot of them aren’t full-time, but it’s not because they don’t want to be. It’s because the big rich corporations don’t want to be on the hook for things like healthcare benefits. And overtime pay.

This. Tired of people living on welfare. I’ve personally had to use it when I was younger and going through a hard time, but it’s not to live your whole life on. There are people who are on it their entire life. That’s not the purpose of it. That needs to be stopped and people incentivized to improve their life, not make it a lifestyle…
I didn’t know that. Thanks!

Tell that to the people who won't be able to afford health insurance.
Is that the Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire due to the Democrats setting the end date ?

Pass the CR, open the government and negotiations can begin. But as some Democrats have said, those subsidies are their only leverage and, unfortunately, there will be suffering.

The Democrats are flat out saying they're ok with Americans suffering as long as it maintains their perceived leverage.

This one? "one from Alaska to rebuild a public safety building that burned in a July electrical fire."

The expedited request was approved.

Trump approved a 100% cost share of disaster-related expenses for 90 days."

The approved Alaska expedited request appears to have been for Oct storms.

Trump approved a 100% cost share of disaster-related expenses for 90 days."

The mention of the denied request was 8 paragraphs later and was concerning a July incident.

Also, "The decisions fell mostly along party lines, ..."  and "Blue States are denied disaster relief funds, while funds for red states are expedited." do not say the same thing.
