Well, soybean sales to China were at a 16 year non trade war low at the end of Biden’s term. What’s happened since definitely hasn’t helped though.

But this is a thing. Small farmers are in trouble. And a large majority of those farmers voted for policies that are detrimental to them.

Trump starts a trade war in his first term, which basically made our beans so expensive that it busted our monopoly and the Brazilians found it cost effective to deforest and plant more beans.

Once you've done that, they aren't going to go our and replant the trees if tariffs on US beans go away. The thing about blowing up your monopoly, is that it's permanent. He's trying to do that to our high tech companies now.

And Trump doesn't care about the small farmers that voted for him. His corporate guys will buy those farms and develop them, or make them megafarms. Either way, the family farm as we know it is dying. Sure, it has been for a long time, but with the tariffs and the dropping prices combined with the increasing price of inputs and inflation in general, those dipshits that voted for him are going to be working for the corporations for pennies on the dollar. They can ask for a bailout, but it's hard to do that without looking like you're a *gasp* socialist.

But hey, at least they can still dislike blacks and browns.

Part of me wants to say, “tough luck, you voted for this.”  But it isn’t just the small farmers that will be hurting.  Farm bankruptcies will have rippling effects throughout many rural communities. 

So give them emergency aid.  However, Trump had done some long-term damage this time around: many export markets will be lost for decades due to his chaotic tariff policies.

Nope. By giving them aid, we're being socialists, which these people have been loudly, vocally against. You can't fucking have it both ways. He wasn't keeping secrets. He told all of us what he was going to do. Now commodity prices are tanking because China and other countries are saying "fuck you" and we have soybeans in the ground that need to go somewhere. They could have gone for 14 bucks a bushel. Now, they're sub 10. That's a big fucking deal.
