The home had been rented to the family from Maryland, for what, 10 days? Why would the money, electronics, and cell phones have anything to do with human smuggling?

Maybe the government can take your property and claim, without evidence, that it amounts to I'll gotten gains?

Or they could simply have realized the smugglers haf moved out and a family had moved in. Failing that, they can apologize, return the family's possessions, and self reflect on what went wrong.

They're not going to give up possible evidence in an ongoing investigation.
And they're not going to give you possible evidence in an ongoing investigation.
This has been a 4 year investigation, arrests have been made and indictments have been returned.

But maybe you could request the evidence in a nicely worded text.
