Murph thinks all these people coming over are picking crops. Betting 1/5 of the people packing your food in warehouses along I-55 have some sort of fake IDs that allow them to work.

Literally a week ago had some employee report another who had done them dirty for using a new identity after they had been fired from the same company 5 years ago. All the new docs looked good but someone looked at Social Media and started comparing it to the original paperwork and the new paperwork. Guy quit when confronted.

Chump edit: The more I think about it, 1 in 5 may be a tad high as a lot more employers are using E-Verify.

Sure, Foster Farms and Kellogg's and the like - they can't afford to get their shit together to properly vet their employee base. Give me a break, they WANT the system like it is. Employers not using E-Verify are doing so intentionally because they want to hire illegals so they can pay them less, and if something goes sideways they can get rid of them and go ZOMG ILLEGAL WITH FAKE PAPERS

Presuming these firms that you say are so legit but just get the fake a roo are paying FICA and SSID for these employees. Where's that money going?

There is a lot more automation than 10 years ago. They are not harvesting crops as much. They are canning food, cooking it, serving it, waiting and bussing tables, cleaning kitchens and bathrooms. They carry luggage and clean rooms. They are household maids and nannies.
