The other crimes included violating NY election laws +
This is the 1st that I've seen that NY election laws were violated. And I'm not sure that what the felony charge is has been stated.

Trump's attorneys, for whatever reason, denied the rationale behind the payment.
If some woman tries to extort you over your banging her even tho she signs a statement saying that you didn't, you say that you didn't, and your lawyer doesn't believe the story, what comes to mind ?
1st, hopefully MrsThePAMan.
2nd, your job. Or your business.
3rd, whether or not you may lose the race for city council is really not that important. Or POTUS if you make it that far.  ;D

If TSJ gets convicted, guilty or not, there's a pretty good chance that the damage to his character will remain with him forever. Jobs and positions come and go.
Costello will say that the 1st thing that Cohen mentioned was Melania. Apparently the jury isn't supposed to hear those portrayals of the conversations between Costello and Cohen.

If they had smell-o-rama it would have had big ratings
It is smell-oo-rama. It's ok to admit it.

"Under New York law, falsification of business records is increased from a misdemeanor to a felony by linking that falsification to the “intent to commit another crime and aid and conceal the commission thereof.” "
What is the "crime" ? There are assumptions but I don't believe anyone has specified what "crime" that the defense should be arguing.
The SDNY wouldn't pursue a campaign violation.
The FEC wouldn't pursue a campaign violation.
Bragg, after running on the promise of holding Trump accountable, initially declined to pursue.

Ok, I understand.

Wasn't Costello there to controvert Cohen's credibility on certain things? Wasn't he Guiliani's counsel?
Yep, and the judge doesn't want the jury to hear it. He's a former prosecutor at SDNY. I think Costello knows his way around a courtroom.

It’s literally throwing anything at the wall and hope it sticks kind of shit. The prosecution doesn’t really know what the charge they should be arguing is either. Just drag everything out as long as possible if nothing sticks is the strategy.
Because FOX News told me so…

Didn't the judge preclude the FEC guy from testifying as it was the jury's job to determine if election laws were broken instead of his opinion?
Some legal "experts" were undoubtedly behind the decision to bootstrap the expired misdemeanors to intent to commit a "crime".
The FEC wouldn't pursue an election violation and yet a former FEC commissioner isn't allowed to rebut the prosecution position for the defense ?

"Bragg has identified the federal law under which the Southern District charged Cohen, the Federal Election Campaign Act, as a possible “object offense,” that is, the intended or concealed crime that raises the misdemeanor to a felony. Bragg has explained in court filings how FECA also feeds into another potential object offense under New York Election Law § 17-152, which criminalizes conspiring to “promote … the election of any person by unlawful means”—such as, Bragg has suggested, by violating federal election law. "
When did local DAs starting charging "violations" of federal election law ?

And how many local DAs are there in this country who will gain some precedence with respect to charging federal election law crimes ?

Merchan to the defense after their request to stop the case from going to the jury :
"You said his lies are irrefutable. But you think he's going to fool 12 New Yorkers into believing this lie ?"

Lol. Yep, limit defense testimony and that's the idea.
The prosecution brings a porn star and a convicted perjurer.
The defense wants to bring a former federal prosecutor at SDNY and a former FEC commissioner.
Nope, we'll have none of that.

Trump isn't The PAMan and was running for President and had the Grab Them video already come out. Trump is free to testify about why they did what he did and refute the testimony that's been presented. Let's see if he does it.

Didn't Cohen testify that he lied to Costello too? Thought he did. Costello's testimony wouldn't be refuting testimony that Cohen already admitted to.

They want what Bragg campaigned and won election on, a pre-election conviction. The appeal will have to be won post-election.

It's not a drag it out scenario.

It sounds like Costello was supposed to keep tabs on Cohen to make sure he never flipped. Doesn't look like Costello did a very good job.

Unlike what is going on in Judge Cannon's court room.

How unique is the NY law on books and records? You may have your answer there.

Trump won't testify due to prosecution efforts.
You're sounding like one of those 12 New Yorkers who are hoped to believe that Cohen isn't a liar.
