Conference games only.
3rd in points behind xxxx and PU. Wisco is 9th.
2nd in margin behind xxxx.
5th in defense. Wisco is 4th. PU is 8th and xxxx is 11th.
Put the 2 together and we have the #1 seed.
Still hiding behind innuendo and practicing the art of omission.

Guessing Kofi and having several good shooters makes it look better than it is.

We are scoring just fine. This isn't Hoosiers where Jimmy Chitwood runs the picket fence anymore.

Our defense is suspect, due to size matchups. If Hawkins and Melendez can show in tourneys that will help.
Kofi actually looked better in his ball screen coverage against Iowa.

We will go as far as the threeball and defense takes us............... Like most teams.

Yes, we generally score fine. My worry is that when we get into a tough elimination game, the 3s might not be falling, or Kofi might be neutralized or on the bench. We just don’t seem to manufacture offense through sets very well. We don’t space or distribute the ball real well. We’re very susceptible off shooting nights or less than ideal matchups.

Yes, our defense is also vulnerable due to guard size. Hawkins playing well at the right time helps. I just think we’re a bit too predictable on offense. If Curbelo can dial up his A game for a handful of games in a row, that would help tremendously.

I thought that was Kofi's best game defensively.  Amazing how he has improved.

Very bizarre, at least they can't say they got homered by the refs... ;D

Per usual 5 of top 6-7 posts on the Hawkeye report were specifically about officiating.

Facts are that Underwood lost 20+ games a year without Kofi.

This year, the team should probably be better than what it is considering you have Kofi surrounded by a bunch of experienced guards.

Next year will be a completely new team and honestly without Kofi, Underwood has shown himself to be a very mediocre high D1 coach. He was mediocre in his 1 year at Oklahoma State, awful his first 2 years at Illinois, then he got Kofi and things changed.

In fact, to draw an Illini football parallel, Underwood may end up being similar to Ron Turner. And Kofi= Kittner.  Take away the stud QB or stud Center, and there’s really nothing that has been built

The first two years where he purposely tore a perpetually mediocre program down to the studs to rebuild it. Midway through the second year they were starting to show the potential that would really blossom in his third year.

Yeah if you take super star players off of teams they usually aren’t as good. 🥴Brilliant analysis.

Mostly bitching about Kofi's moving screens.

He’s done a great job here, but this is laying it on thick.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering too. Don’t feel like there’s anything special going on here.

He’s done a great job here, but this is laying it on thick.

I think like a lot of things it is somewhere in the middle of the extremes that are espoused here.

What cannot be disputed is we are BT co champs this year, were BTT champs last year, and finished second in BT conference the previous two years.
Now some may argue we are the tallest midget in a perennially disappointing conference come NCAA time, but we have the best record in BT over the last three years.
That is an excellent accomplishment.

We have a competitive sustaining program again and we are all excited March means something again- and I am pretty hopeful we get to the second weekend this time for the first time since 2005.

Don’t disagree, just think the “ripping it down to the studs” comment is a bit gratuitous.

“Successfully overhauled the program” would have been ample and fair.

I mean he kind of did with all the de-commits, transfers, recruiting and so on and so forth, in the first two years.  You remember all that?  Cuonzo supposedly "owning" us?   I know he mentioned numerous times that he had to completely 180 turn some players attitudes around and rebuild the entire culture, those that didn't want to do that were shown the door and a lot of fans bitched and moaned about it at the time.
