The idiocy in your comparison is you’re comparing Nagy’s 1 good year to 20 years worth’ of Belichick’s good years. This shouldn’t be tough to grasp.

It's not a comparison.

It's an example to show how absolutely fucking dumb using "yeah but he had a good defense" is.  And it's prodigiously dumb.

If he doesn't win this year he will be fired and rightfully so.

Your lack of clarity and inability to understand what I'm saying isn't related to my integrity or lack thereof.

Sounds like you’re fence riding to me.

You're not this bad at this, right?

Like, you're making fun of yourself here?

It’s a near perfect analogy, actually. You’re trying to analogize Nagy’s rookie year (by far his best) with a defense he had no part in building or actually coaching, to 20 years’ worth of Bill Belichick.

Brady Anderson once hit 50 home runs, something Hank Aaron never did. It’s even more perfect because Anderson’s year was a steroid enhanced fluke.

Of course it’s a “comparison.” You can call it an example, an analogy, a similitude, whatever the fuck you want. It’s still an asinine “point” to make. You’d be laughed out of the room if you brought this up in front of football “experts.” Which at one time, Belichick was the only one you could think of.

I’m not actually convinced that’s true (unless they crater). I hope it’s true. It should be.

“Sure, Nagy had a great year via a historically good defense! But Belichick doesn’t make 9 Super Bowls and win 16 division titles without good players!”

That seriously doesn’t sound ridiculous to you?

Death, Taxes, and Jobu meltdowns. The only things I’m sure of.

Oh, and Nagy sucks.

Much more fitting “examples” would be Brian Billick and Jon Gruden. Two other “offensive geniuses” that only ever won (briefly) because of great defenses. They at least, managed to close their deals.

Both were overrated, and both a country mile better than Nagy.

That doesn't surprise me.  You're just one of those people who is incapable of following a discussion like this.

Belichick is the best coach in my adult life, at least.  His results are also mediocre without Brady - that's just a fact, yeah?  I think it'd be incredibly silly to use that to say he's a mediocre coach.  You can't separate the coach from his roster.

Sorry man, I don't know what to tell you.  It's dumb to keep going back and forth on this.  I've made my point; you've ignored and talked past it.

Your point is “no one wins without good players.” What a fucking brilliant point. A totally useless comment we’ve spent way too much time debating.

You’ve been trying to muddy the waters for a very long time; incapable of realizing that Nagy lucked into a ready made historically good defense (that he got zero playoff wins out of), and that Belichick constructed and maintained a 20 year dynasty in the modern NFL.

And that the two situations are in no way “relatable, representative, or analogous” in any way, shape, or form.
