And a MASSIVE get it is. 5 star SF, 10th ranked overall recruit in 2025.

He's reclassifying to 2024 and will be working out with the team in July.

Welcome aboard!

Hell yeah! Highest ranked recruit ever in composite rankings in Illinois history. God bless Brad Underwood and Orlando Antigua!

That's great. Took him away from Bama, Arkansas, Arizona and Ky.

Love whatever we did to get this guy in CU. This is going to be the most duct-taped Mad Max car roster in Illinois history and it should be fun.

Boswell, Rodgers, White, Morez, Ivisic, Jakucionis, and Riley is a solid top 7 where every guy is either an established college player or on draft boards.

2024-2025 ILLINI are going to be special if they can gel....I am sure the staff will make that happen. That said what does our lineup look like as starters? Everyone imo will get 15-20 minutes per game so it may not matter time wise, it will to players however.

I could see multiple multiple starting lineups based on talent, matchups, earned time, buy in to the system, best guess to start season however would be in a positionless (title only) format.

PG - Boswell
SG - Jakucionis
SF - Riley
PF - Rodgers
C -  Humrichous

Bench
White
Isivic
Johnson
Booth
DGL
Davis-Redshirt?
Jakstys - Redshirt?

The staff has worked their asses off during our off season and we now have as much talent since 1989 squad overall. Lets hope they can get all that talent to pay off, since we have paid them off....legally of course. LOL, we are a destination spot now. Never words uttered about Chambana before.

I will be surprised if Humdinger plays the 5. It would create mismatches, but then his man would just  guard Rodgers like  teams did with Hawkins.
Humrichaus is even more a wing than Hawkins.

I see Ivisic, Morez, and Booth rotating at the 5. They all get double digit minutes early on. Jakstys almost certainly redshirts unless there are injuries and he progresses rapidly.

Humbrickhouse, White, And Rodgers rotate at forwards. They can all play the 3 or 4. Maybe some leftover tick for Davis.

Boswell and Riley at guards with Jakucionis off the bench. Maybe some quality minutes for Gibbs-Lawhorn.

It seems like Brad has preferred a fairly short bench. I thought 2004 [2024]did better when he started using the bench a little more.

It will be interesting to see if he can keep all this talent happy.

One point. There have been a few a coaches that liked to press and run, and used a long bench. -- Tom Davis at Iowa,  Pitino especially at UK come to my mind.  Even though they had 9 or more guys with double digit tick; there were still 2 or even 3 that would play 30 or more minutes.

Also, balanced scoring is nice, but the best teams usually have at least a primary and secondary option put up bigger numbers and get those bigger minutes.

I have no idea what to think of this squad. Collection of what seems to be a lot of talent and length, various levels of experience. There aren’t many cases of big success following a turnover of this magnitude, but it hasn’t been happening in this NIL and transfer environment for that long either to give us a huge database. The brutal non conference scares me as this team will be trying to figure shit out while other teams will be way more advanced in that regard. I think they’ll probably be pretty good by the meat of the conference slate, but may be in a big hole to climb out of by then. Maybe the key is keeping the best of these guys around for a big run the second year.

Agree with most of this, good comments. Humrichous @ 5 was more as the 5th starter, not the traditional 5...we will have ALOT of length to eliminate drives. That said if a more traditional set is utilized, then I could see Isivic at the 5 starting. We want athletic rim protectors, as we will probably never emply a traditional 5 again.
