So, the Bulls just signed Lonzo Ball.

How does this affect Ayo and his chances of making the squad?

Ayo is being looked at, at least prior to the draft by most, as being a role bench player 2nd round draft pick. This is actually a really good assessment of his abilities in the NBA...soooo, he stays just as he was scoped out to be a role player swiss knife to Levine/Ball. No change in projection imo.

White just had surgery for pretty serious injury. Minutes are there.

Agreed. He was drafted to take Sotaransky’s spot IMO.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Caruso will steal more potential minutes away from Ayo than anyone else right away.

Keep your day jobs.  The Bulls are not done making deals and I doubt they had Ayo penciled in for 20+ minutes a game off the bench like you assume.
With the White injury recovery unclear there is an opening for 9th or 10th man, but they will still add more wings/ guards.

I had a gut feeling that there was a pretty decent chance that the Bulls would sign Caruso.

You are in the lead to snatch the HQ AOTC award from 97.

LOL. They only had like 11 guys on the roster after the Ball deal and signing Caruso.
They were clearly also trying to get rid of Aminu.

What did your gut say about adding yet another wing in DeRozan?

They still have money left I think and open spots. This shit is fluid as hell.
Ayo has a shot to stick and play some, but they are very serious about getting to the playoffs next year it seems.
They could be decent and he can part of a nice rebuild the next few seasons.

Slow down, brah.

You gotta throw in a "but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't" to hedge.

With the players they are getting, minutes will be harder to come by, and if correct and more moves are to happen, well maybe the hometown kid will be used more for marketing than for skill set.

They draft Ayo then go and pick up three guards, all proven at least to some extent, with two expected to have big minutes and start.  Doesn't seem ideal for a guy trying to break it into the NBA.

Defense is the key with Caruso and Ayo more so than scoring...Derozan/White/Lavine/Ball both but far more in the scoring column. White is the wild card and nothing is really known on him as of now...surgery so who knows how he comes back?

Have you seen Ayo defend anyone? Especially of NBA caliber?

Maybe you have, but I haven’t.

Ayo has a hill to climb to make this team.

What? No gut feeling joke?

Have to pick your spots.

I’m gonna wait until Ayo gets cut, then I’m gonna say that I had a feeling that Ayo was gonna get cut. Fair?

The good thing is they unloaded a lot of guards so right now he is the 6th guy in the guard rotation and should make the roster and maybe get used.
Bad thing is the other 5 are all proven stars, starters, or very productive players and a lot better than him right now.
Most teams only go 9-10 deep in their rotation.
He might be 10th guy right now if he has good summer.
If White recovery is not good then he gets more minutes but my guess is they go out and get another veteran if that is the case.

He could end up being a decent player, but it will take time. I doubt they are counting on him for any important role. He needs to develop some NBA level skills.
My guess is his 3 ball improves over time. They really can teach it in the NBA and the spacing is unreal so they all get open looks (especially with a high skill PG like Ball). He will have to hit them at a decent clip.
His defense will get better. And he needs a fadeaway and figure out how to get by an NBA defender in the halfcourt. Has to show he can get his own a little bit. The 24 and 14 second clock is a thing. You can't be a guy who can't make a contested shot.
He will not ever play much on ball IMO. Just doesn't have the vision, instincts, or handle.

Ayo has a hill to climb to make this team.

7 BiG Ten players drafted, of course the time he guarded all or some is different, some like Garza not at all, but many in the league thougth Ayo length would translate. We shall see, Chicago is still the best fit, because if he is limited right away, his family is close for support.

I do agree he has a very big hill to climb...would not surprise me either way really. Make it or not.
