10 days later, your AP fact checker tweeted about another AP story that included ....
"This much is clear: Hamas fighters killed at least 1,200 people in Israel, ..."
and in the very next paragraph ...
"Hamas also hauled around 240 people back to Gaza as hostages in the worst violence against Jews since the Holocaust."
The attack included barbaric atrocities. Anyone who will not call it out for what it was has no credibility.
The 240 people were not hauled away. Trash gets hauled away. These people were kidnapped and many were murdered.
This is nothing less than the AP normalizing the atrocities.

I'm so tired of this sort of nitpicking. "Words matter" but in this case, anyone going through the trouble of reading this article knows exactly what happened.
They killed the babies! NO - THEY THREW THE BABIES IN THE FIRE! AFTER RAPING THEM! In my world, killing the babies meets the bar, the methodology doesn't make it *more* important to respond. Like my gender, my view on responding to terrorism is binary. Terrorist attack? Respond. Done.
I think the most overused word in America these days is "Condemned". "Well, the President seems to have a problem with what happened, but why didn't he CONDEMN what happened!" People fall over each other to win the "biggest language competition" but don't actually work on the problems because they are so busy trying to be the person using the most forceful language, trying to find an even BETTER word to describe how overwrought they are.
