I bought a big green egg with a cypress table in 2012 and literally wore it out over the course of 9 years. I got a Peoria Cookers Meat Monster (internal firebox with trailer) in 2015 when I was doing commercial and competition cooking but sold it in 2018 when I got burned out on it.

Just about finished moving and left the egg and it’s table to a buddy that helped me move. He has refurbished it and I kinda regret not bringing it with me but wanted to scratch the itch for something new/different because smoking and grilling is such a big pastime for me.

Currently grilling on a 25 year old half barrel Oklahoma Joe’s grill my dad bought in Denver in the 90s and looking for a do-it-all unit for the new place.

I have narrowed it down to either a Primo XL mounted in one of their tables or a Peoria Cookers Backyard offset with the “firebox grill” option. Both can do just about everything and cost is similar. I just enjoy building and tending a live fire.

The Primo is a kamado which can basically do any type of cooking but I’ve always wanted to have a “stick burner” offset cooker. If taken care of, either one could eventually be passed down to my kids.

On the other hand both of them are complete overkill now that I don’t do big cooks. Also a part of me that wants to go the Weber kettle + WSM route which would be much less expensive and would give me the pleasure of learning a whole new repertoire.

I have a traeger and a blackstone flat top

thats all I really require for outdoor cooking, might get a gas grill some day, I just don't have the time or patience for charcoal, and yeah fire hazards n shit here are not a good idea

Grill update: The Aggressive Son decided to build the grill last night. Given that The Passive Son was around only part of the time and not much of a help when he was around, I got sucked in. After 3 hours, the grill was built with only one fuck up.  I wish they would actually include written instructions with the small picture instructions. Would have realized that certain wires needed to go in and under instead of out and under. Nonetheless, it works.
