All right I went to Costco and looked around. They have some nice stuff I’ve not seen anywhere else. Some of the meat and all of the seafood looked amazing especially for being in a landlocked area.
Agree with Golf the $10.99 ribeyes looked weird to me. Big fat pockets and very little marbling. All of them. The $18.99 prime ribeyes look like what I’m used to. But that’s mom and pop butcher shop price.
The pork looked great, on par with what I get direct from farm and much better than what I see at places like Aldi, which strangely enough has pretty damn good beef. It was a good price, mostly cheaper than the local butcher shops. However the whole pork shoulders were considerably HIGHER than local shops.
Chicken is about the same price everywhere, you just have to buy more of it at Costco. I did like how it was packaged though so you could easily separate off vacuum packed 2 breast portions to freeze. Normally when I buy a big thing of chicken I have to do that work myself which costs time and money. So there’s some value there.
I didn’t have time to sort through all the aisles. I didn’t buy anything and went to Aldi afterward and spent $48 and got a fuckload of food including a really nice certified angus beef ribeye for $10
