Duly noted that Loyola had some bad games. I could come up with similar games by  virtually every good team. Everyone has good days, middling days, and bad days.

My point is seeding should reflect the metrics they are using  unless there are extenuating circumstances.

True. The P5 conferences get too much credit.

I think they could have been given as high as a 6 seed. I was a little surprised by 8, but it’s not outrageous. I mean that conference is horrible and their OOC schedule was worse than horrible.

Again, I don’t think they beat GT with Moses Wright, which was an unbelievable gift that is going under appreciated. And quite frankly could have had massive repercussions on Illinois

I could buy the whole weak conference thing if it were only the metrics that valued them. But Loyola was ranked 17 in the end of season AP poll. They had a history/some players with recent tourney success. There were plenty of humans that thought they were pretty solid, too.

Their results against conference opponents that know and scout them intensively isn’t a great barometer either. They play a game that values possessions so close games are a given. They had a knack for winning the vast majority of them which according to KenPom is a measure of quality coaching.

And the metrics didn’t just like them, they loved them. Top 10 in KenPom. #1 KenPom defense. That’s a brutal 8 seed.

They could have easily been a 5 and there would have been little argument. If IL was truly a championship caliber team we should have beat them.

good to know

I for one, am relieved.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.
