So much for Gonzaga being an all-time great team. They’re very, very good; but again, Gonzaga is a bit overrated.
People fall for it every year.

Every. Year.

Why would they want to join a real conference and give up their super protected seed every year

My thoughts exactly. They’d be dumb to go to another conference. Us the fans want it, but it adds no benefit for them to.
I didn’t know that. Thanks!

Perhaps the Missouri Valley, with powerhouse Loyola Chicago?

OK, so they were rated as the #1 team in the country and are gonna finish 2nd.

That means they were exactly as overrated as the 2005 Illinois Fighting Illini

Baylor played great. All credit to them.
This was Few's best team.

And if you go back and watch the videos that season, you'll find plenty of analysts who correctly projected UNC as the best team.

Dave Bliss was an IU assistant when Knight recruited those loaded 75 and 76 teams that went 31-1 and 32-0.

I just watched more basketball this year than normal. Probably because Illinois was good and COVID limiting some other entertainment options.

I was really surprised how many analysts forgot about Baylor during the bracket release hoopla. Sure Gonzaga was undefeated and had beat some good teams early. And Illinois was on a tear and just won the BTT beating two top ten teams along the way. But man, it just seemed obvious to me that Baylor had the recipe.

I pretty much only watched the Illini, didn't have time for much else, thought this was our year if some breaks went our way!  Clearly it was not haha
