One guy just captured the BTT title and the third one seed with a team almost every national analyst has picked to go to the title game.

The other guy was desperately trying to save his job after getting pummeled by a team in their practice jerseys that had just survived a life threatening airplane incident.

But other than that, very similar situations.

Yeah there’s something wrong with people saying the Underwood hiring isn’t a success. Whitman looks really good right now. Can’t really get much better than where we’re at right now as a program.

See the way it works is there’s a handful of Chicago people here.  As is their custom, they try to project as much bare cynicism onto the Illini as possible. I mean everyone wants to be AOTC and betting against the Illini is usually pretty safe.

If enough of them disagree on a topic with someone like me, then rob takes the temperature of the forum and counters with something he thinks will play well with that handful of posters he respects on this forum.

It’s just good strategy.

Or, maybe some of us have learned that 2 good years does not mean much in the grand scheme of things.

Agreed.  I will say I feel better now than I did 2 years ago.  Will he sustain it? Time will tell.

We were feeling good after 2005.  Shortly after, we got a fence post shoved up our collective asses.  And some people in this fanbase actually enjoyed it.

Exactly. I am hopeful Underwood is more Henson and less Weber. It is convenient to blame "Chicago fans" and ChicagoFan though.

Bingo.

Now here comes you getting blasted by the mob. Really all they can say is they’re gonna take a wait and see approach. Oh and they can say that until the end of time (or Underwood retires) and never have to really make any determination on him. Very Tempoish. Just kinda riding the fence so they’re never technically wrong.

Yes; riding fences is how I got to such a magnet for backlash.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

I appreciate the Underwood post you started and your honesty. Still can’t believe you’d want Shaka 😬

At this point, it boils down to Shaka is less of a d*ck (probably). But Underwood’s arrow is pointing straight up. I had serious doubts as to whether we’d get to this point under him.

Pretty sure skin color is a factor as well, no?

I've been conditioned to always take a wait and see approach to Illini athletics.  I don't give a fuck about being right or wrong.  I thought Mike Thomas would be decent.  I was dead fucking wrong about that, and looking back on it all...wow.

If taking a wait and see approach makes me a fence rider, and that's bad, cool.

It's Judge Judy. He makes PeoriaSteve look like a member of Mensa.
