EE possible
Michigan
Illinois

S16
Iowa

Maybe S16
OSU

R32
Wisconsin
Purdue

R64/Bubble/Out
Rutgers
Indiana
Minnesota

Iowa without Frederick is in trouble until he returns. They had the worst D in BIG already.
Illinois playing tougher and Grandison in the lineup makes a difference.
OSU is still short.
Wisconsin is slow.
Do not sleep on Rutgers. Might be getting some mojo back and McConnell could help.

Don't really disagree a whole lot with what you stated.  Though I still would have OSU above IL.  I still think IOWA beats us with Frederick.

2 seed UM - The COVID pause will likely put UM vulnerable to a few quick losses upon return.
----------
3 seed OSU - won 6 of last 7 only loss was dagger 3 against PUR also handled IL without 2 starting guards.
----------
3 seed IOWA - probably better than us with Frederick healthy.
4 seed ILL - Kofi needs to stay on his feet.  Gorgi might be broke.  He's been getting frustrated early in games and then seems to compound into several bad plays.  When did he pierce is eyelid?   Grandison starting to play some of that old man YMCA basketball and that's what this team needs badly.
----------
5 seed PUR - quietly doing what matt painter teams do after a mediocre start to the season
8 seed RUT - most wildly inconsistent team in the Big Ten.  Harper Jr, Young and Baker are as good as any 3 man combo in the Big Ten.  Johnson might be the most under rated player in the league this year.
9 seed WISC - without trice and potter not even an NCAA tournament team
10 seed IND - probably the best defensive team in the league, but no offense outside of Jackson.
----------
PSU - penn state and maryland both are very young but talented and could still piss people off come down the stretch.
MARY
MINN - can't win, let alone compete on the road, they will be the next team to go on an epic losing streak,
----------
MSU - these 3 teams are a complete shitfest
NU
NEB

Great write up.

I still don't quite buy OSU as legit, but we will see.
I actually think Iowa's defense is so bad they are becoming Iowa of recent years under Fran. That zone was laughable. The worst I have ever seen.

Grandison is a game changer. Much more game than DW.

I wouldn’t base the evaluation of OSU on their one game against us. They had long stretches of that game where they pretty much couldn’t miss, and it wasn’t because we were being badly outplayed or were giving up easy shots. They just hit everything in building that big lead. I think we would beat them more often than not, despite the fact that we don’t match up with them well.

I think putting Grandison on Liddell would’ve helped quite a bit. He’s much longer.

As noted by Rob and others- Liddell had a career game from three, but when it was obvious he was on fire, Coach Hulka didn't really adjust.
He had 4 threes in our game. He has 6 other threes in all other games combined. Agree we should have stuck someone else on him, or went to some junk help or zone defense.
Their other guy is actually the threat from three.  I will say that OSU is maximizing what they have. They have a slim margin for error.

I think we are better than OSU by fair margin.
I actually think we are better than Iowa the more I watch them.

UM presents issues. They are most balanced team besides us, and look pretty well coached.

I kinda like doing the seeding versus the tourney potential just because it’s such a crapshoot and anything can happen. But it is fun guesstimating what these teams could theoretically do in the tourney format. Just really struggling to see many teams this year that seem like they could string together big wins. The top 25 was a blood bath last weekend. The metrics seem to really like Illinois whose most impressive string of wins is @PSU, vs IU & PU and @NU.

Usually when a team has 2 players NBA scouts are at least looking at, it should fare pretty well in the tournament. But I keep thinking about what happened to 1982-83 Houston. Phi Slamma Jamma had way, way, way more talent than 2020-21 Illinois. Like the current Illini, the Cougars were unpredictable (okay, masons) at the free throw line. Going 10-19 when it really mattered proved to be Houston's downfall in a 2 point loss to NC State in the NCAA Tournament Championship game. How else does a team lose when it has then-Akeem Olajuwon & Clyde Drexler on the floor? Thankfully, college basketball has adopted the shot clock since those boring days of sh*tty stall ball. I'm hoping the Illini get a decent seed/draw in the Big Dance. If so (and the team is healthy), this team can make a good run.

Our defense is now ranked 17th in country in KenPom. It has improved lately, but that seems high in real world.
We are showing more intensity and effort.

Iowa is ranked 117th. That seems very accurate. They are absolutely abysmal.

OSU with nice win on road vs Iowa. Holman is good coach.

Iowa w/o Frederick is just out of sync. He was kind of a glue guy.

Definitely a solid win for the Buckeyes. Iowa is really inconsistent. Hawkeyes have only played 5 road games this season so they'll have a few more road games coming up.

FWIW, a vocal group of Ohio State fans on EW are pissed off at Holman for not being able to recruit 5* big men. Apparently they think Ryan Day should be recruiting for the basketball team, too. SMH.

Iowa now 1st in Off Eff and 133rd in country in Def Eff in KenPom.

We are 5th overall in Kenpom right now- our highest all year. We are moving up and on verge of a 2 seed.

A win today wouldn't hurt. Feeling pretty good about it.
