Would Rutgers would be one of the best teams in the ACC or PAC?

They are horribly erratic. I think really underachieving for some reason.

I think they would be 5th or 6th in ACC. I think PAC is just pretty weak period.

Polls are out as well as seeding updates coming out.
OSU has kept their spot ahead of us in one poll and we moved up in other.

That’s kinda what I figured. They have the head to head with us and lost a close one to #3.

I haven’t watched a lot of Rutgers games, but their success seems to be highly dependent on matchups and officiating. If their big guards can exploit smaller defenders, they do well. If their big guys can get away with a lot of no-calls on defense and on the boards, they seem to do well.

1 seed and FF capable

Michigan - Wagner is growing up and looks like best NBA prospect in league

2 seed EE capable

Illinois - with Ayo healthy are dangerous
Iowa -  with glueman Frederick and en fuego Weiskamp are a threat

3 seed S16 capable
OSU -  getting exposed as vulnerable with lack of true post unless they shoot lights out

6-8 seed and maybe win a game with right matchup

Purdue

In and could get lucky with right draw and win a game
MD
Rutgers
Wisconsin

Put a fork in them

Minnesota
Indiana
PSU

MSU unless BT orders officials to fix one of the UM games like they did the Illinois and OSU games in which case they get in a play in game

NU
Nebraska

Ohio St. dropping 3 straight surprised me, back to back tough losses may have had a hand in Iowa being able to run them off the court a bit.  Got to say didn't see Iowa immediately improving while losing Nunge and still dealing with a sub 100% Frederick.

For the first time this season we as a team are playing with a sense of desperation.  It's something we have greatly lacked with Ayo in the line up. Over the last two games Illinois effort for a complete 40 minutes of basketball has been unmatched this season. It may not be pretty at times, but we are getting more loose balls and forcing jump balls than ever before.  I love how hungry we are playing as a team without Ayo.

The Wisconsin game was no doubt ugly.  20 turnovers is unacceptable and most of which was unforced, but the defense OMG.  The defense was a thing of beauty.  Nobody on Wisconsin could do shit, though they had a few open looks from 3 that didn't go down, a lot of the time I felt like they were rushed.  Our on ball defense was at a very high level, so much so that I think its the biggest reason why Wisconsin hurt us on the offensive glass. They had zero open looks from inside the arc. Trice is just a straight up baller and performed the greatest Reggie Miller impression the worlds ever seen at the college level.  But I be damned if I didn't watch us make 10 straight free throws to stave it off.  Being how terrible of a free throw shooting team as we are, that was big time.

#4 in the latest poll.  Love the exposure, but are we the 4th best team in the country right now?

OSU is very good, but has slimmer margin for error than other teams at top.
Young has been banged up. Ahrens has been slumping. Their D is not the best to begin with.
They are more dependent upon shooting well which is tough to do every time out. I think the UM loss took a toll emotionally. OSU played great and were
still handled.

Iowa is enigmatic. Weiskamp has been ridiculous in last month (35/64 from three in 10 games), and if Frederick can stay on court they can be very dangerous and compete with anyone on a given night. Have watched Weiskamp all through HS growing up. He is straight up baller and 2nd team ALL BT now along with first team Garza. Bohannon is perking up again and he is capable of blowing up any night. Murray is improving a lot.
They have junked that lousy zone which helps.

If Ayo is healthy why not.
A drop from top 3 teams to the 4-10th but we are in there.
Need Ayo back.
Tuesday will be not so good without him....

NET rankings.
How does Houston get a higher NET with a 2-1 quad 1 record ?
You need to go down to #65 Ky to find a team with more quad 1 games than us.
Sparty comes in at #77 NET.
The #4 team in the country shouldn't be tossing the ball away 20 times, but turnovers have plagued us since Underwood arrived. Nebby has us edged out for last place in turnovers.
And we're 11th in conference free throw percentage.

It has a certain level of mystery.
Replaces the RPI, but uses elements from RPI?
NCAA tourney does not use RPI, but kind of does still?

We are 34th in RPI by the way. Iowa 35th. UM first. Houston 3rd.

Its because it takes into account margin of victory, which is part of the various efficiency metrics.  Houston is bombing shitty ass teams by 40 points.  Going 20-3 will compensate for that to certain degree.

It's also the exact reason Iowa hoped over us.  18 point road win at Ohio State
