Zook actually rebounded and his last two years were somewhat successful by our pitiful standards.

Illinois doesn’t have sustained success because it’s pretty damn rare for a bottom feeder football program to have sustained success. We are playing at a distinct disadvantage to many of our peers from a prestige/money/facilities/recent success standpoint.

In the last 2.5 years the Illini have won the Big Ten in basketball twice, had a 1 seed in the tourney, and played in a January bowl game.
