2 concerns: Easier schedule may "mask" things. Impacts Eberlose and Fields analysis. Let's say Fields does what he did in 1st half against Denver and Washington against the weaker part of the schedule, but then struggles against good defenses. Chance Bear decides to keep him and mess up the draft. You already see Judge Judy here saying things like this re Fields.

I find it very unlikely they will have the #1 pick. He says he’s only playing for about 6 teams, anyway. The Bears aren’t on the list. Could be a bluff, but I don’t think the Bears will have the #1 pick regardless (check that, unless it’s Carolina’s pick).

I don’t draft Williams if Fields plays the rest of the year they way he has the last two weeks. You could get a Herschel Walker trade like haul for that pick. The Bears aren’t drafting #1 anyway (unless it’s the Carolina pick).

You’d actually get better picks than the Walker trade, but the impact that trade on your franchise could be enormous; much like it was to the 90s Cowboys.
