Pretty sure we lost 0 games that year due to FT shooting. But PAMan did lose a 2nd half “cover” bet in the NCAAs.

See above post. I still maintain the position that getting worked up about a few missed FTs (mostly by freshman bigs) in a 30 point win in early November is wholly unnecessary.

It's probably just a concidence that a team that couldn't hit free shots finished 339th in 3 pt shot percentage.

Again, it was primarily freshman bigs that hurt the FT% in that game IIRC. I’m not sure having an off night from the line in a 30 point win in early November is highly predictive, but hey, you do you.

And yet the Illini were in the 300s nationally for Free Shot Percentage that year. Appears my observation was astute and prescient at the time. Like the comment about Fields' passing yardage mentioned in the post Mn found.

Again, having an off night from the line (mainly due to freshman bigs) in a 30 point win in mid November isn’t “highly indicative” of a season long problem, or one that will necessarily “cost them dearly.” Again, we lost 0 games due to FT shooting,
