I’ve met people from Nebraska. Outside of Cornhuskers football (which is no longer even any good) they have no identity. Corn, that’s it.

It's just a different place. There is a lot of land, and not a lot of people. Once you get west of Lincoln, it's really nothing. Just a lot of space.

When I was in the service, I spent time in Wyoming. That made Nebraska seem like a metropolis, lol.

They’re hard working, principled, stoic people that are proud of what they do, which is help feed the world. That’s a pretty cool identity.

Not as cool as self-loathing suburban Uber driver guy though.

Good burn! I come from a long line of farmers. And actually my family has some history in Nebraska. I respect the hell out of farmers. But still not much going on out there other than corn. And bad college football.

My mother spent a few summers in Nebraska when she was a kid. My great-grandfather used to go out there back in the 40s and farm that land with my great-uncle.

They’re a huge beef production state. Western Nebraska sand hills is a beautiful area, as is the panhandle. No corn there. But yes the eastern 1/3 to 1/2 and the platte river valley—lots of corn.

Thank God that football program took a huge corn shit dump.
Worked with some guys from eastern Nebraska, great guys and hard workers that grew up on farms. But I sure loved it when UCLA knocked them off in 1988. I gave those 2 guys so much crap that next week.

For those that don't know. Wyoming is at a higher sea level than Denver. More than a mile high. And there is nothing stopping the wind. In fact, sometimes they close I80 through there because it's too fucking windy.

Anyway, There is nothing much colder than a Wyoming winter on a missile range. Fortunately, the military knows how to outfit people for such conditions, but still. It's a hell of a job.

One time, we had people performing maintenance on the silo, and when that happens sometimes alarms go off. It's solely because of maintenance, but people still get on edge about it.

Well, this one jag I worked with out there liked to fuck around. Guys were out there, and we knew it. Unfortunately, we didn't alert the proper people that this was happening, and to disregard alarms. Said jag didn't know that people weren't informed, and went about his shift.

Well, an alarm went off for a launch. Purely due to maintenance. This alarm tells people high up that we are launching an ICBM missile. More often than not, the alarms are silenced prior to getting to concerned people, and nothing happens. However, this time the alarm persisted.

So, the phone rings in the silo. This dipshit picks up and identifies himself. On the other end is a high ranking officer asking about the launch codes that have been sent out, and there is a missile away.

So, this dipshit, thinking it's all a drill, says, "Yes sir, 2500 feet and looking good, sir!"

The phone then disconnected. After that, a lot of really bad things happened and the guy that did that was absolutely reassigned to a much less desirable job.

Good times! Love Wyoming winters.

Sounds about right that some dumbfuck Dr. Strangelove would trigger a nuclear holocaust. But there’s no way that virus got out of the Wuhan lab!
